I think it just fits with the story and themes of the movie and why they lost. The heroes weren't willing to sacrifice anything and Thanos was.

Trouble is, once Thanos had the time stone, he could just rewind to the when they didn't sacrifice Vision and it'd all be moot.

Yeah exactly, destroying Vision and the mind stone wouldn’t have saved anything because Thanos had the time stone by the time he arrives to Wakanda

In that case the only stone he really needs is the time stone.

If a stone is destroyed, then yes, otherwise no.

Since we're going down this rabbit hole, I now can't help but wonder why they didn't just destroy the Time Stone? Did they ever offer a reason for that?

The only thing I can think of is Strange's bargain with Dormammu, but surely it's more preferable to have to find a new way to fight Dormammu than to kill a sentient being?

Why not just reverse to when any given stone is more easily accessible?

I’m not sure any of the heroes surrounding the time stone had the power to destroy it. Wanda only had the strength to destroy the mind stone because it “awakened” her powers so there was similar power coming from her. No one had that connection to the time stone.

Because by that time who knows how far Thanos would have to reverse time. If he had to reverse too far back then it could take away the moment when the gauntlet was made. Then there is no way he could snap. Thanos always had the time stone prior to the mind stone getting destroyed which is why I’m saying he would have always brought it back.

Ah didn't think about who would actually destroy it. I guess if someone managed to get one the power stone away from Thanos, that could have done it. And Star Lord has shown he can hold it. Whether he can actually use it is another thing entirely, though.

    Good point. I'm satisfied again.

I don’t think Star Lord would be able to hold a stone in IW because his celestial powers are gone after GOTG2 when he killed Ego.

I love the idea that Thanos had a gauntlet made instead of anything else just so he could snap his fingers.

right, plus i have to imagine destroying the Time Stone would have had far greater consequences to the timeline than destroying the Mind Stone.

Hopefully Doctor Strange 2 or another future MCU film elaborates on how much the time stone and the other stones being destroyed in the current timeline has changed things

I have always assumed that they only actually had their physical forms destroyed so they could no longer be harnessed by anyone with ill intentions anymore. Their energy or power or whatever was simply released from their stone forms and integrated directly into the fabric of reality.

But the Doctor Strange episode of What If...? gives precedence to being able to use the stones if you reverse to before you were in possession of something.

Hmm perhaps he could keep the gauntlet, even then, how would reversing time let him get the soul stone. He would also need the space stone to travel throughout the universe. On top of that Thanos would also need to somehow know what moment in time to reverse to for the other stones.

Okay, okay, good points. I concede.

So this got brought up in Comic Books; might as well talk about it here.

There's a picture going around that indicates Ms. Marvel's "embiggen" powers might not be adapted verbatim, but instead be more like Green Lanternesque energy weapons.

At first I was not enthused about this, and I'm still not, actually. But after giving it some thought, I think I understand the decision.

It serves a twofold purpose: it puts her power set more in line with Captain Marvel's powers, making a clearer link between the two, while still allowing the spectacle of those giant fists.

It also allows true stretchy powers to be saved for the Fantastic Four movie, to not rob Mr. Fantastic of any spectacle that might come from bringing his powers to life. Also helps distinguish her from Ant Man with the size changing.

I dunno, I'm still not thrilled with it, but frankly, her powers being comic accurate is probably one of the least important things about adapting the character, so I'm willing to sit still for it if there are sensible reasons behind it.

It sounds like they're at least trying to preserve the spirit of her powers.

It probably also helps make the CGI easier especially for the TV show and a smaller budget.
