My theater was packed. There were literally no empty seats. It felt like when I would see horror movies on opening night in high school. People of all ages screaming and shouting things like “ruuuun” or “don’t go in there”.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I love that the entire hospital setpiece was present only to teach us Mob Justice Is Bad and People Are The Real Monsters, in bold text and underlined for the people at the back

...and then every character present promptly forgets that and goes and beats up Michael Myers as a mob. even Judy Greer's character, the lone voice of reason just does a complete 180 with no reasoning whatsoever

    great stuff

greer trapping michael was mainly awesome for how it echoed jlc in (2018)

i do not really care how inconsistent it was, besides which the angry unconscious mob of the town is a part of yet still distinct from tommy doyle’s small crew of brutalizers

I mean sure but the three named and known characters we see whaling on Michael at the end are Tommy, Karen and Sheriff Brackett. literally all of whom are deliberately shown during or in the aftermath of the hospital scene going "welp this thing we did sure was bad huh"

Yeah but they were only sorry because they had the wrong guy. Not because potentially Michael died.

Also, why should we feel bad for the other inmate? He must have been pretty bad in his own right if he was being held and transferred with Michael Myers. Unless I’m forgetting something from the first movie.

  8. This was fun. I was a little whelmed and the middle third is definitely messy, but nowhere near as bad as some folks have been saying. The kills were awesome in this, and typically I'd agree that that level of brutality isn't the point of Halloween, but it's a welcome change of pace imo, especially if it's mostly isolated to this film in particular.

First third felt like a solid connection to 2018 and I thought the third act was great. The hospital stuff honestly didn't bug me -- it's pulled almost directly from Halloween 4, one of the series' best films -- but I'll admit that the dialogue was super questionable at times. The characters kept repeating corny lines ad naseum and I couldn't tell if it was to show that they all had their own individual motivations for killing Michael. Regardless, despite a lot of the same elements that made 2018 questionable (and I love that film), this felt like a good combination of what I look for in a Halloween movie and something new for the series.

    GOOD/BAD-GOOD
    Halloween Kills (probably)
Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers

    OKAY
    Halloween Ressurection

    If we ranking

    Halloween (1978)
Halloween III: Season of The Witch
Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers
    Halloween (2007)
    Halloween (2018)
Halloween 5: Revenge of Michael Myers
    Halloween II (1981)
    Halloween Resurrection
    Halloween H20
    Halloween Kills
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

I absolutely hated 6, but I still have not seen the Producer's Cut that's supposed to make it a better film so maybe that would move up. I also have a soft spot for Resurrection. As far as Zombie's Halloween II goes I've only seen that movie once and never revisited but I think it might be time to do that soon too.

Well, I just watched this and.....I kind of loved it?

There were super annoying parts, hilarious parts, and it took awhile to get things rolling, but I loved the flashbacks and even though the ending was fucked and Michael seems to be the only one who knows how to put people out of their misery, it still makes me excited to see what comes next.

The cheese factor with the kills wins it for me too. Way more cheese than horror in this one. Nothing will ever beat the original and Rob Zombie's 2007 remake though. Now that's some horror shit. Now, I'm off to have nightmares of the poor dude who smashed his brains all over the hospital entrance .

Oh, if you want to play a drinking game….

Every time a character says “He dies tonight!” Or “It ends tonight!”…take a drink.

Gosh, that second Rob Zombie film was something else. It’s like he tried to make another Halloween III on purpose with hopes it would become a cult classic or something. I remember telling myself to give it another chance thinking that, surely it’s not as bad as I remembered….oh, it was haha

Fans have different priorities and reasons they like this series, but for example , just the fact they FINALLY GOT THE ORIGINAL MASK RIGHT and it only took 40 YEARS makes this movie shoot up the rankings past most of the sequels for me.

Also, when Michael is putting all the knives in the older guy in the beginning-ish, his body language is EXACTLY like 1982 Halloween 2.
