Going to run through the first three Final Destination films this week. The og STILL gives me massive anxiety. I'm almost certain that no other horror film has effected me like this one has...I can't get on a plane without making sure the lap tray pin doesn't pull out.

Watched House of Wax over lunch today. Amazing that it starts with a Deftones song and ends with an MCR song. Never expected that.

Movie featured a lot of wax but oddly only one wax killing/creating scene which is a bit bizarre. All the other main character death descriptions could have been from any number of other franchises or films.

    Coraline (rewatch)
Although I never actually read it myself, my sixth grade English/homeroom teacher put on the audio book every morning and I was so creeped out by it. When the movie first came out I adored the movie's character designs and animation but found it a lot more colorful and vibrant than I'd imagined. Revisiting it now I find Wybie pretty annoying and kind of wish Coraline didn't need his help towards the end.

    Black Christmas (2019)
Haven't seen the previous ones. Found this a bit disappointing, tried to be woke but there were a lot of creative decisions that went against that particularly the supernatural elements inadvertently absolving the men of responsibility for their crimes, I feel like. Still enjoyable on a surface level, good performance by Imogen Poots.

i was pretty disappointed with VHS 94.

was it entertaining? for the most part yes, but scary? very rarely. one story, which felt like the longest one, felt more like a video game (kind of gave me Bioshock vibes) - from how it was shot, to the dialogue to the character reactions (there was one moment where a character is on the other side of plastic sheeting and seemingly doesn't hear the gunfire and screaming until a character comes through the plastic sheeting and reacts like an NPC in a game lmao). but was anything remotely close to being scary in that story? no, not even close, which to me is a bummer.

  10. 2.5 for The Brood?? 2 for Carnival of Souls?? 2 for Phantasm?? Smdh

V/H/S/94 ruuuuled. Pretty much everything I love about (good) found footage and anthology films. Acting was over the top and the narrative was a stretch (as to be expected), but each segment had its own vibe and as a whole it wasn't afraid to go full-on bonkers, which are my favorite kind of films. Just a roller coaster ride that got a few jump scares out of me. First and last segments were my favorite, but I enjoyed all four.

What a bounce back from Viral. It's not perfect, obviously, but I'm already excited to watch it again, and that says something. Hopefully they do a sequel.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

It Comes at Night got a mixed reception but I absolutely love it. the dream sequences still pop up in my head pretty often

I thought it was pretty mediocre when I first watched it but I revisited it after loving his other movies and it worked so much more for me.

I agree with you here. I never really felt scared at all during the film. There were some frightening sequences, yeah, but nothing truly terrifying like the first one I don't think.

I personally thought Hell House 3 was nearly unwatchable. Really liked the first one, found the second one okay, and then everything went out the window.

Watched Christine for the first time last night. Reading the book beforehand probably dulled my enjoyment of the movie in the way that it often does, but I enjoyed it

I didn't like it much. If you're a big fan of slashers you might like it but it didn't bring anything new to the subgenre. All the characters were pretty boring too imo lol

    The Babysitter: Killer Queen
I wasn't really into it for the first thirty minutes but it just kept getting better. Not as good as the first one but still very fun.
