On a different note but the same subject, it's a shame that since Nintendo and Microsoft worked out to get Banjo in there that they couldn't also have worked out a deal to get someone from Killer Instinct.

 

fwiw regarding the cloud streaming thing I've only heard surprisingly good things about it when it comes to resident evil and control on the switch

it is odd that they're making all of them cloud streaming and not just 3 though.

Maybe I’ll play my first Metroid game

 

I’ve never played a Metroid game so idk if I want to spend $50 (at Walmart with their $10 off new switch games) to play a 12 hour game. Do Metroid games have much replay value?

 

I do a replay of the series once every few years and always love it. They usually have tons of hidden upgrades/collectibles too, so I’m sure you can squeeze more than 12 hours out of a single play through if you want to.

 

not really, unless you're a completionist.

if you have no emotional attachment to the franchise you can just play either Ori to get your fix/see if you like it at all.

that said, having now put about 3 hours into it I am very happy with it. the 88 Metacritic it sits at is about right.

 

my stealth recommendation for everyone looking to get a Metroidvania fix on Switch this week is the newly released Afterlife update for Death's Gambit.

In case I do get Metroid Dread I decided to read the plots for the other games (since Dread will be the last one chronologically), but I think I'm more confused after reading them. There's so much that goes on.

 

Samus is a space knight that was raised by bird statues and fights brain suckers with her pew pew and can turn into a marble.

Seems pretty simple to me.

 

Man, Nintendo really needs to have MercurySteam do some kind of remaster job on Metroid: Samus Returns so more people can experience it. As a late-in-life, post-Switch launch 3DS title, that game didn't get nearly the love it deserved. I feel like especially if Dread sells well, Samus Returns on Switch would make them a ton of money.
