I'm assuming he is referring to the influx of franchise rebooting, which doesn't bother me so much in horror

 

A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.

 

Yeah, it's been speculated that this was a Blair Witch sequel for some time. It's weird that they're actually changing the title though. The theater I work at already got posters that say The Woods

 

I'm all for a new Wingard film, but marketing it as a Blair Witch sequel cheapens the whole thing to me.

 

I don't really care that it's a Blair Witch movie, I'm just in for Wingard.

 

New Blair Witch Trailer Will Make You Think Twice About Camping Again

 

I need to revisit the original since I've only seen it a handful of times. The first being in theaters, which was fucking terrifying.

 

It was still fucking terrifying when I watched it the other night with my lights on.

 

This and Don't Breathe are the only two movies in recent memory that I do not want to spoil.

 

I didn't enjoy watching the first one at all but still might give this a chance

 

Anyone skeptical about this film should watch this director's previous two films, You're Next and The Guest, the latter of which being on Netflix. Some of the most underrated horror/thriller films of the past five years.

 

curious to see how he tries to make a movie that relies on its actual "scariness"

You're Next and The Guest are amazing but they're much more like action movie like than they are scary.

 

I'd rather this be in the hands of people who do unconventional takes on homages than James Wan
