Sure, but the problem with that tweet is that the guy is literally just explaining what it means to be a supportive family with his examples. The main point that generational wealth is not just inheritance still stands. It just refers more to the people whose parents give them a down payment for a house, can afford the $60k/yr private university so that they don't need loans, or those people I used to see on social media getting like a new BMW for their 16th birthday. I think largely accurate point, but just terrible example

 

Almost an hour on the phone now, most of that time on hold, with Wells Fargo after getting a debit card in the mail because someone opened an account in my name.

 

I had a crazy roommate who got SUPER into MonaVie back around that time. The entire fridge at our apartment was jam-packed full of what looked like wine bottles but I guess was some kind of acai berry bullshit. He would also do this crazy cleanse with cayenne pepper and I think syrup and lemons that basically just gave you dysentery for a few days, and he would rent fancy cars like a top-of-the-line Cadillac Escalade for a night and then go out on dates with girls he had met with his account on some type of millionaire matchmaker website where the girls were under the impression that he was rich.

They’ll just tank it instead. I spent 2.5 years trying to prove I didn’t own/walk away from an apartment in Manhattan, I’ve never even been to New York.

Pro-tip to anyone who's struggling with getting approved for credit due to poor/no credit, open up a secured credit card. You put down your own money as your balance (which I know isn't always doable for some) but it was the only way I was ever able to get/fix my credit 7ish years ago after a family member ruined mine. After a few months of using it here and there and paying it off in full, I was able to finally get a real credit card and approved for a car loan, and you get your money back when you close the account.
