so nice to be just fully in love with an album from this band again. the last 3 albums all have sublime moments and ideas, but this is the first album since Beggars where I'm just constantly thinking about it when not listening, having lyrics and melodies loop in my head, etc

just a sincere pleasure to feel like this again and dying with anticipation for H/West

I've seen them ten times... only four times as a headliner (and one more time as a co-headliner). My preference is an indoors general admission show, but they've all been solid shows.

I've seen them every time (except one) that they've played in Dallas since 2002 - They've always been excellent weather indoors/outdoors/festival/opening slot/headlining - Can't wait for the show on Saturday.

When I saw Thrice live, something that stood out to me was how "clean" their stage setup was. It was like that feeling of when you clean your room and vacuum. It just looked really tidy and I don't know why that stuck out to me.

Exactly, which is totally enough for me to love a "mediocore" song, which still is a nice aerworm on top of that. A lot of the bass sounds like Major/Minor era for me as well.

    RIP Supporter

Regretting not getting tickets to see them this go round. I don’t think I made it through one full listen of palms so I’ve been kind of whatever on them for a while but this has grown on me a ton and brought me all the way back ha

Whoa, I was just now showing up to post a link to this because it's easily the best Dustin podcast in a while. It really covers the history of him and Thrice, including some stuff he's never discussed.

Great interview/discussion. Definitely got out a lot from Dustin because he usually isn’t a big talker :crylaugh:

Listening to the podcast now. Thanks for posting

I feel like the “having a recording space” is really going to be to all our benefit. Interesting to hear that Vagrant and Epitaph a contract where they split the album. Keeps the band and label motivated to sell an album because they are both invested.

My first listen to this album, I was not particularly impressed but by my third listen, this thing had grown on me immensely. This is such an easy album to return to. I can't know for sure if this will hold up over the years but I have a feeling this one will likely be among the top half of their already stellar discography. The production also rules on this thing.

I didn’t love still life or the dreamer much but both grew on me. I’m not sure there’s a song or two much stronger than the rest but I’m pretty happy with this as a whole. It feel classic thrice but not still pushes their sound forward in some really interesting ways imo

So this is my favorite thing of theirs since Alchemy Index. Not a bad song on it and I just love their atmosphere choices. Riley also absolutely killed it

Saw a comment on YouTube comparing Still Life to Soundgarden. Not a bad comparison actually, gloomy as it is with a strong bass line. With some heavy shoegaze added in

My opinion exactly. My reaction to Scavengers was actually like first hearing Firebreather haha.
Suffice to say, big expectations for West.

I will say, this does make me want to revisit the last few albums with a different mindset. Could be that it didn't click at that point in my life.

TBEITBN is an awesome album. It’s very Thrice. When you take into account Palms/Deeper Wells EP you got enough for a good record.

H/E will end up being another awesome album.

Palms maybe suffers a bit from trying to do too many things for different segments of their audience, but there are some really good songs in that era.

They do tend to release and album and follow a similar sound onto the next record (just not as strong. Beggars to M/M. TBEITN to Palms. We’ll see about H/E and H/W, but with both records being done at the same time it may avoid that. TBD.
