So after Jason’s latest newsletter about Marvis and found his old post about Launch Center Pro, I went ahead and spent most of my afternoon and evening adding custom icons, etc. However, I still don’t have things in perfect working order; in the sample videos, I see that clicking the custom Home Screen icon should, in most cases, immediately open up the app. Instead, when I click on Twitter, for example, it takes me to a blank screen before then switching to the Twitter app. It’s definitely a little shorter than when everything used to run through Shortcuts, but is this how it should work or am I doing something wrong as the videos seem to suggest?

Also how are people customizing the Launch Center Pro icon to icons that aren’t the handful you can choose from within the app’s settings?!

 

Definitely something isn't working right, because it should be instantaneous, no different than launching a regular app.

I’m probably burnt out from messing with this all day, but my confusion is about changing the Launch Center Pro icon itself. I don’t see it in the grid and it’s not an app I can add to the grid, therefore I have no idea how to get to the customization page for Launch Center Pro like I would for an app I add within LCP. (Which I’ve been doing with the Traf icons, so thanks for that rec!)

Ohhhhh, got it! Yeah, just fatigued - I was typing Launch Pad Pro instead of Launch Center Pro. Time to put my phone down for the night.

 

Can anyone think of why my Macbook seems to disconnect from Wifi after a period of time when my screen is turned off? I have the "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" button checked off under battery settings...

Makes things very annoying for my Plex server heh. It'll work fine with the lid closed for an hour or two but then stop.

 

@Jason Tate if you’re customising your icons through Launch Center instead of shortcuts, do you get the notification badges? That’s the one thing that’s stopping me for going all out with my icons as I need those damn red badges

 

Nope. That’s the downside. But I don’t use them on any I want the badges on, which is basically just Messages.

 

I am a bit baffled why Otterbox have decided this year to put a circle to advertise MagSafe this year on their Aneu cases. I'm not a fan personally and wondering if there are any good alternatives. Should I just go with Apple's own silicon?

I feel like tags could be better implemented in Notes. Seems strange that they have to be written as part of the note and can be placed anywhere within said note. Example, i have a hand drawn note for video game codes and symbols. Adding a tag, my cursor jumped to a line between two drawings. I’d expect the note to then put the tags in a tag area at the top of the note for example, but nope, its just there half way through

 

Oh SHIT, you can swipe up on the bottom address bar to access tab view. That’s a nice touch.

 

I really love you can search in Photos where a photo is saved from. Maybe that was there before, but the new info feature makes it super easy and fast. It's also great to see metadata from my mirrorless cameras right there too, really useful. Even add basic location data from right there is soooo good.

 

Really digging safari with the bottom address bar. 1Password extension is going to be greaaat

 

Having a hard time getting this update to install on either of my devices. It just keeps cycling between preparing update and update requested

 

I hated it, then I liked it like 15 mins later when I saw a couple of the cool tricks with it. Going to take muscle memory to keep me from reaching for the top though.

I can’t believe it took 15 years to finally get a radar natively in the weather app.
