Anyway I'm not going to let bad faith actors try and twist the point of what I was saying. I included that part about me specifically as an aside to demonstrate that anyone can do this, clearly that was a mistake, the fact remains that a touring artist/band has no excuse to not look into the people they're going to tour with before agreeing to do so.

 

I wasn't disagreeing with bands being informed on who they're touring with. I was criticizing this:

I already try to do this in my everyday life whenever I start listening to and enjoying a new band. Before I get too into them I do research to try and see if they're people I should actually be listening to and supporting. It's not hard.

He's saying this is what he personally does. I don't think there's an expectation that everyone does this. There's no reason to be upset about this.

 

If the music is good but the people are horrible, I'll still listen to them for the most part.

But my support stops there. I won't give money towards them by streaming their music on apps, going to their shows, or buying their merch. That's just me though. If a band wants to tour with or work with abusers, they have every right to do so, just like an individual has the right to no longer support them in whatever way they see fit.

Yep. It’s impossible to truly be consistent with something like that, especially when you get into films/TV where it’s a collaborative medium. I understand the idea but I think when you actually expand that to all the different levels of connections people have in entertainment industries, it’s an unrealistic standard to expect people to vet every single professional connection they have to that level.
