Looks like that port-a-potty naming contest ends at 12:30 CDT tomorrow. Seems like prime announcement time.

I’ll just assume if it’s not by 11:00 that I was wrong and it’ll be tomorrow

Honestly makes me wonder if more shit is going on behind the scenes. Not like a cancellation or anything, but rather more artists having dropped out and them scrambling to find replacements. They still haven’t posted on their socials about Pinegrove being added, but I’m assuming that will happen whenever the next update is.

A week out with no schedule is very reminiscent of 2018.

  11. I've really never been able to follow a consistent thread of logic in the decisions they've been making with public interaction and announcements haha

Why put up the updated poster without saying anything, while Pinegrove confirms it on their own socials?

On 2018 we got the full line up on September 7 and the schedule on the 11th, the festival started the 14th. That was a really stressful year

I think they're probably just waiting to do everything at once - Pinegrove, schedule, map, album plays (crosses every finger and toe) - and not let it trickle out. I'm sure its stressful every time they make an announcement of any type.

I mean… Riot technically never announced that Body Count got added. Lol

One week out with no schedule is like 2013.

we didn’t get one until Monday or Tuesday that week.

They’ll probably go silent today and ramp up until tomorrow when they drop everything. They did this last week before announcing Flaming Lips and other Thursday artists.

I mean, that's been their M.O. every year. They don't announce the schedule unless it's pretty much set in stone. Shit might have to change, but they clearly would prefer to not have to do that.

I'm honestly not sweating anything. When you remove a band like Dinosaur Jr. who would be playing later in the afternoon/early evening and then add a band like Pinegrove who would probably be on 2-3 slots ahead of them it changes just more than one band. You're potentially shifting things around for that entire stage, asking Band X to play later or earlier, maybe asking another band to swap stages, etc. It's a bit more complicated than it seems. And so late in the game, there may be some negotiations to be had around that sort of stuff.

I'm not reading into it beyond Riot wanting to make one consolidated announcement and them trying to prevent the schedule from changing after its posted which turns the usual shit storm of "wah, conflicts!" into multiple shit storms of "wah, now I have no conflicts where there were none!"

Wild to think that this time next week I'll be at a museum or something in Chicago, stressing about hopping on public transit in time to get there and in the venue ahead of the first band starting.

I just really want the schedule so I can start planning the rest of my vacation. Hah.

Props for utilizing public transit here. The other day my partner and I were walking around and this group we passed was talking about how they drive everywhere here and never use public transit in the city, and we were both like wth haha. Truly an insane thought let alone life workflow in Chicago.

It'll be my first time! In years past, I've just leaned on Uber. It's a bit more expensive, but I always treat Riot as a "vacation" so I budget for it accordingly. But my partner is a bit hedgy about rideshares in COVID times, both in terms of availability and general proximity to a stranger so... We're leaning on the trains.

I'm a bit nervous about sorting out a new system and the lines post-festival. But at least its consistent. And I'm pretty sure it's a straight shot on the pink line back to our hotel which will be nice.

As a Bostonian I'm very much confused by people who live in/around the city and almost never use public transit. So I hear you!

For anyone that doesn't know, Chicago Transit has weekend discounts on Ventra cards. You can get unlimited weekend travel for $15/person for three days.
