Let's hold our breath until we disappear

Grabbed the mug! If the rug was around $100 rather than $225, I think I’d get it.

  2. I wanted a mug. Or two. Grrrrr

When you definitely did the assigned reading and are ready to present it in front of the class. What an awful answer :crylaugh:

TIL the band Radkey is not to be confused with THAT Radke. Haha. Got that sinking feeling when I saw the latest After School Radio go up haha.

Complete side note from blink here - It's so wild to me seeing those Radkey guys blow up. They are from Missouri and played a ton of shows in my city, and each time it seemed like there was an undeniable "it" factor about them and everyone just loved them. They kept getting booked at our festivals here and had a larger and larger crowd each time. Now they've had tons of big tours and are ending up on Mark's radio show. Pretty awesome to see semi-local bands do that.

  9. Are they the family band? If so, they were on Dave Grohl's documentary about touring that came out recently. Pretty cool!

I like how he asked so many questions about new material from Trio, solo and Blink. So many times interviewers ask silly questions or make it about themselves. He also managed to slip in a part about upcoming tours, their last EP release, clear up The Strokes comment and acknowledging FHTTI 20 Anniversary.

Yeah, they are three siblings, and I thought someone even told me their father managed them or something. They seemed like pretty great dudes.

  12. Yeah, in the Dave Grohl documentary, they mention their dad is their manager and driver.

Crazy the new boxcar song was recorded recently and not 2002…

The Strokes answer was bullshit though. Unless this is a totally made-up quote, there's no way it was taken out of context:

"There’s some mid-tempo songs that may or may not be on the new Trio record that were definitely inspired by The Strokes.”

People just need to own up to the shit they say.

Not sure how I feel about modern day Tom vocals on a BCR song. I was more intrigued about having an unfinished 2002 song that just needed some more layers and mixing done.

He and Dan doubled down on Strokes love. I think he was attempting to say he was inspired by what he was listening to at the time which included The Strokes. He did try and clarify new Trio won’t “sound like” The Strokes specifically.

I really don’t see anything there worth being mad about. Also, you can tell the settings aren’t always the best to get an optimal interview (loud environment and right before going on to play a set). That’s why I had to give the interviewer credit for getting in a decent interview under those conditions.

  19. Can’t imagine a new BCR song not sounding like AvA

  20. I’d love for it to kick asssss but yeah, if we ever hear it, I’ll go into it very cautiously optimistic.

The new AVA stuff is like the only stuff from them I've really liked a lot, so I'll trust where Tom's at right now creatively.

New Boxcar will sound like Circle Jerk Pit or Letters To God pt. 2

Either way, big meh. If the music was actually written and not changed from 2002 than I'll listen at least I guess

I have a lot of friends who are journalists and treat quotes as sacred, so when there’s literally a record of him saying something that he then claims was the writer making something up or taking it out of context, it irritates me. His words in the quote clearly said the Strokes were inspiring the new songs. Is it splitting hairs? Yes, but he’s also now making an accusation about the writer’s credibility. And I hate that artists are able to use that line whenever they need to walk back something they said that they actually regret.

Just once I’d like someone to say “I said that, but let me clarify” instead of painting the writer out to be someone looking for clickbait. Communicating thoughts clearly is hard! It's OK to be imperfect, just don't then accuse someone of sensationalizing it.

I have lots of friends that are are journalists too. I don’t think the quote about The Strokes is anything sacred. I think he’s implying the context may be wrong. He’s clarifying or expanding on his comments, because maybe in that moment he may not have been clear enough or people have zeroed in on a part of the comment and are misinterpreting it, even if it was his words.

He doubles down on liking The Strokes. Again, he says that what he’s listening to at the time writing him influences him, which includes The Strokes. He’s simply trying to course correct that new music will sound like the Trio.

I think he has the right to clarify. He didn’t say the other journalist made stuff up. And getting worked up about journalistic integrity over stuff like this will just make bands quit doing interviews. Matt and Dan took their time in a loud environment before a show to answer some questions. The interviewer in the video did a good job, and under the circumstances of noise issues did an even better job. If you’re worried about walking back quotes, consider the fact that Matt probably had a hard time hearing the question in this interview and didn’t just skip out but answered. And again, the topic is influences on a Trio record from a band member. There are more sacred topics and Matt’s comment and personality really doesn’t me question the original journalists integrity in any way.

I had no idea this existed but it’s super cool to see how much of an impact Jerry had on Enema.
