On paper - no, but i dont want to underestimate the mental boost getting him back for the end of the season in a still winnable division could give this team.

like, i don't want to get ahead of myself, but the mets are about the embark on an 15 game streak against the nats and the marlins. win 10 of those games and theyre back in business.

hell, win EIGHT of those games and you're probably in business.

Just stick him in left field or something and let him hit too, since he's their best hitter, maybe they'll have a chance

If he were coming back today then mayyyybe. But over the last two weeks of the season? Maybe he could help complete a comeback but the comeback needs to start pretty much today

I bought tickets for the Dbacks @ Phillies a while ago for this Friday assuming it be a probable win and now I’m really not so sure. What a shit show

Imo he needs to pitch again before the end of the season because we need to see if the inflammation comes back or if he can get a few starts in without any problems. Last thing we need is to go into the offseason not knowing if deGrom is really healthy or not

Mets are definitely about to go on a good run and be back in playoff contention, they always do late August-September. The question is whether they can keep it up through the end of the season or spontaneously combust with 2 weeks left as they have before.

Good Dom coming back just in time for September would be very very good. He's fooled me before this year though so need to see more than 3 at bats

Taking out Walker at 74 pitches when he had been exceptional all game aside from 2 pitches is criminal.

    the fuck was Rojas thinking

That Loup has been pretty close to perfect all year and you were facing two lefties, one of whom is a borderline MVP candidate this year? It wasn't a bad move but of course it's the 2021 Mets so it failed

I get the reasoning if Walker wasn't pitching an excellent game with a low pitch count and 2 runners on from an error and a bloop. But you gotta give him a shot to get out of that jam

  24. Carbrera looked good, couple mistakes late but v exciting!

I see that if things are going really well and you can afford to trust your starter third time through the lineup. But this is a must win game (or as close as you could get in August) and you have a fully rested pen. If you're going to lose the game, you want your best relievers on the mound. Loup was, I think uncontroversially, the best bet to get through the inning

Of course, what you really want is to win the game, but, well... it's the Mess, er, Mets
