Wear Ada School district (largest in Idaho) is requiring masks, but parents can opt their kid out. Wasn’t expecting g that at ALL. The anti mask/vac parents have been extremely vocal during board meetings and I totally expected them to cave like everyone else

With more than 180,000 cases in children last week and with most places either starting school right now or next week and with no kids under 12 able to get vaccinated "almost never die" is not very reassuring. This is a fucking nightmare.

From what I’ve read outdoor transmission is pretty rare…delta changes things but I would not doubt if it’s still a low chance

I wonder if this whole "let's try to actively kill off our voting base" will have any meaningful statistical impact on future elections, whether at the state or federal level

 

Pretty sure whoever is left is going to continue voting for the same assholes anyway. But yeah, I do wonder if it's a statistically significant portion of the base.

 

My guess is that'll it will be balanced out by the disproportionate numbers of marginalized, minority, and mostly urban populations that were affected early in the pandemic, but if this continues for long it enough, it might just be significant. If anything, though, I'd guess it would be most prominent on local/county levels where you can have a fairly homogeneous population where the main driver of differential vaccination statuses (and presumably after that deaths) is clearly political affiliation
