Based on what I hear the fans say you'd think JD Davis was the worst player on the team but he's actually batting .300+ and has the 2nd highest OPS on the team (behind Alonso).

And you and I both know that the drive on I-75 / I-275 from Ft Myers to St Pete is no fun ANY day, prob especially not on a Sunday midday. That stretch through Sarasota can be brutal!

Once you hit the madness around marker 210-217 you want it to be over but it’s only just begun

I haven't checked, besides Alonso and Davis, does anyone on this team have an OPS over, like, .715? Not saying that Davis isn't good (although I think it's certainly up for debate), but being second-best on this atrocious offense is not really an argument in his favor.

Regardless, I am very happy about this win and can say that I am fully sucked back in only to be disappointed again. World Series, here we come!

Nimmo is above .800 but I don't think anyone else does. Not out of the regular starters at least

Forgot about Nimmo, although he's been slumping recent. From baseball-reference Guillorme and Villar are around .750 but other than that, Conforto and Lindor are next highest at .702.

Well, except for Mets legend Johneshwy Fargas who was rocking an .810 through 7 games before the Mets cut him. The Cubs just DFA'd him though, so you know what to do, Mets. #BringJohneshwyHome

Also to your point that the offense is atrocious so him being 2nd best isn't much of an argument, that's true, but even so, his OPS would still be good enough for top 25 in the NL if he qualified. I'm not saying he's amazing or anything, but people act like his bat has no benefit to the team, which I can't say I agree with that.

i dont even know if i would call anything a 'regression' - their key players just never got it going. its hard for me to beat up Alonso because hes probably the most consistent of the major guys but he still takes some just god awful at bats. the dude just doesnt believe in getting singles or doubles, hes up there with a HR or bust mentality.

Lindor was a disappointment early on, i'll say it, but I don't expect it to stay around long term.

Pillar and Villar absolutely carried this team, and guys who arent even on the team anymore were huge helps - Fargas, McKinney, even fucking Khalil Lee was getting key clutch hits when he was up. The mets just have not gotten the production they need from their big bats.

I never want to watch a james mccann at bat ever again. jeff mcneil sucks (we all need to come to grips with it). conforto is destroying his value so much that i am certain he will be a met because nobody else is gonna offer him a big deal after this year.

like, sure you can say the mets technically 'regressed' but in that division its not really a regression. the mets being in first place in the NL east was never something to be overly proud of, or something to be used as a huge confidence boost. i don't think the mets ever had a run differential higher than like, 30 this season lol.
