I have no desire for home ownership because house maintenance seems like a pain in the ass, I would easily get the worst painter at the highest price haha I'm a rube and a mark

 

I have no desire for home ownership other than not wanting to be fucked over by a landlord.

There are some parts of this country where $500k will buy you what many people would consider to be a mansion. There are other parts of this country where $500k will buy you, like, a ranch with a basement. There are houses in NJ that cost close to $1 million that would probably cost less than half of that in, like Nebraska. Just an absurd thing to make a blanket statement about.

I was just looking at Zillow as well, I found a literal entire compound, like the ones celebrities buy for themselves in California, for like $524,000 in Nebraska.
