Southwest NJ is just boring, literally nothing notable there except Camden and enough said about that. Cumberland county is useless. Atlantic City and Cape May are great places in south jersey though (I'd say most parts of southeast are cool)

Central is the best

 

I love the garden state

 

AC is a shit hole outside of the boardwalk. i go there a lot tho because the train from philly takes you right there. i went to rehab in mays landing and was surrounded by people all over south jersey, for the most part, and they fucking sucked, for the most part, and the program was ridiculously religious on a level that shocked me, as someone who went to rehab in missouri twice.

 

best place in jersey is asbury park

 

ive always wanted to see a show at the stone pony

 

ive only ever been to the starland for shows in jersey. besides warped on the AC beach a couple years ago.

 

Stone Pony Summer Stage is definitely one of the best concert venues I've been to. I'm going to a few shows there next month

Starland is my fave

 

ive had very mixed experiences w the bouncers but its a great historical venue worth going out of way to make a weekend out of imo if its inside. outside stage sound is hit or miss in my experience. i dont even care about the boardwalk that much at all but ive got lots of great memories seeing the bouncing souls there many times.

 

I saw gaslight play their second to last show at the stone pony. It was awesome.

 

we went and got tacos last night and they just charged us for the drinks and not the tacos and I told the waiter and he said don’t worry about it so we tipped him 50%.

 

did yang ever watch parks and rec thinking “shit, this ron swanson guy knows everything!”

 

the amount of people who miss the point of the ron swanson character is truly amazing

 

Stone Pony has become a shithole that over sells tickets. Seeing my last Minus the Bear show there is one of my greatest regrets in life. Lots of good memories, mostly shit lately tho.

That being said, stoked to see Bleachers and Japanese Breakfast from the place across the street next month. Bless the Summer Stage.

i saw silversun pickups and then baroness/deafheaven at the starland, both phenomenal shows. would love to go back but i dont have a car now so the commute is a pain. like id rather go there for the thursday holiday shows but im gonna have to go to reading unless i manage to scrape up enough money to buy a car by then.

 

Na there is a upstairs bar on the corner. mogo has a stand at the foot of it. You have a perfect view of the stage from up there

I’ve driven through south Jersey so many times and it is wild how little there is there between the bridges and the beaches. When I was in hs my ex went to a private school that attracted people from surrounding states and one of her friends who had very lax parents lived in the middle of nowhere somewhere between sharptown and Woodstown on route 40 so she’d have “sleepovers” over there in the summer where really I would drive over and pick them up and we’d maybe meet up with one or two other people and drink or me and the ex would go park next to some spooky ass cornfield or something. Eventually her friends parents stopped giving a shit i was there at all so we’d go there after school dances and I’d stay the night too lol. But we’d spend way too much time just driving in the middle of nowhere. I was always convinced we’d get lost and murdered out there. The 40 to 55 drive to get to Stone Harbor I did a few times too to visit said ex at their beach house. I still prefer Delaware beaches but the south Jersey shore is pretty legit. Bougie but legit.

After I turned 21 I went down to Atlantic City a lot, often with friends but once or twice alone and sometimes we’d decide late at night to go. Driving down route 40 at night is actually kind of cool…but again, spooky corn fields. But I’d take them over the shithole it becomes before you get to the swamps and AC haha. And yeh AC is a shithole I guess but we always stayed at Harrahs and it was nice there.

moral of the story: south Jersey is spooky cornfields. 1/5 stars Do not recommend.

 

AC is a majority black city thats been the victim of white flight, segregation, the loss of the early 1900s tourism, and the casino business. So maybe lay off the shithole stuff.

They got a good soul food place there.

 

Starland is fun. I've seen a drunk @Henry there before.
