No, America paid unimaginable costs in Afghanistan because of defense contractors gouging the federal government in the name of patriotism or capitalism or some other bullshit.

Almost all of the Taliban leaders were part of the Mujahideen as well and did receive a bunch of US funding. And al-Qaeda officially formed while we were still backing them. (There's a hilariously tragic part of Guantanamo Diary where the author basically says "yes I was part of al-Qaeda during the early-90s, but I was fighting the Soviets alongside the Americans and I was literally trained by al-Qaeda on a US military base"). All a very disturbing and rarely talked about part of American history that really led to the wars of the last 20 years. And just another reason to hate Reagan

My sister-in-law was showing symptoms and she took two of these and they were both negative. Then she went to a testing center a few days later and got a positive result.

So it sounds like the people who got vaccinated earlier on are first to get a boost. I was done Jan 26. Who knows how long post transplant it’ll be before I get it.

Admittedly, it is unbelievably poor messaging when environmentalists talk about "Saving The Planet" because the planet is going exist no matter what. Additionally, people don't care about nature.

The fight against Climate Change is a mission to preserve our species survival and way of life. I think when we phrase it like that, it becomes a lot easier for people to care.

Tbh I think one of the most underrated aspects to Americans not caring a lot is the use of Celsius in all the projections. No American knows or cares when they hear 3 degrees Celsius. They couldn’t tell you a damn thing about how much hotter that Earth is. Give it to them in Fahrenheit so they get it.

Honestly why is the NY gerrymander so important? Places like Georgia, Arizona, NC, and Pennsylvania need it far more. Like we're not instituting Jim crow legislation like in those states.
