yeah, pretty much. i got called a "cowboy" for like two weeks after i wore a flannel shirt to school for the first time (was going for more of a grunge look and obviously failed miserably)
also got called "eminem" by multiple people after bleaching my hair blonde

 

After stepping away from social media for a week, i can say I don’t miss Twitter at all.

think I’ll keep Instagram but purge my follow list down to just friends and some bands

Who here is well informed on if someone is able to get a restraining order against someone or not???

 

Not an expert, but my understanding is it varies state by state, so you may want to seek out advice specific to the state you're in.

Likelihood of success. I’m in Texas and my friends ex boyfriend is going unhinged and she doesn’t think she has enough to get one.

But she’s pretty scared as are we as her friends and her family since she lives 3 hours away

@scottlechowicz would likely know better, but it should be fairly simple to get a temporary ex parte order if she is able to provide some evidence that he is a thread of violence to her. That lasts for up to a few weeks while he is served and a hearing is scheduled.

Your friend will need to present evidence of the following:

She will need to keep in mind a few things:

1) She can file for an emergency order of protection and participate in an ex parte hearing...which means the abuser won't be involved. But these order only last for a week or two at most. For a more permanent order, the abuser must be notified and given a chance to participate.

2) She will likely need a lawyer, unless the prosecutor decided to take up the order on her behalf.

3) As for evidence, she will need to prove in the initial petition for the protective order that the abuser "presents a clear and present danger of dating violence." Include anything and everything in that petition, as that is all the judge will be reviewing. At the permanent hearing, it will be more akin to a trial: witnesses and any physical or documentary evidence will need to introduced (such as medical reports or text messages).

Long story, short. She was in town this weekend and they broke up… Starts off sending her mom this unhinged text saying they need to get her professional help and she’s going to kill herself one day. Then post lots of slanderous lies on social media. Then he trashed their apartment while he was moving out and I mean he trashed it pretty good…. Then he messaged and called her sister saying creepy sexual things to her and also called my friend late last night non stop. She never answered.

 

I am sorry to hear your friend is going through that. It can be really scary, I know.

At this stage, preserving evidence and documenting behavior is crucial. She might want to consider filing a police report over the damage to the apartment. The cops won't do anything, but being able to show she filed a police report is good documentary evidence.

Keep any text messages and voicemails. Always keep in mind what the judge needs to have proven to them: the abuser presents a clear and present danger of violence. So that is threats, any actual violence, or violent / destructive behavior.

City of Houston has a list of places that could potentially help with free legal services when filing an order of protection. Might be worth giving one of them a call.

Eight months seems a bit long. Aren't we already seeing significant dropoff in vaccine effectiveness after 5-6 months?

 

I did ask before getting discharged and basically got a “you’ll qualify, we just don’t know when” so that kinda sucks.

I don’t wanna jump in front of the line but it’s super important now
