  1. I have a bunch of tickets to shows and stuff between mid August and October, and I don't even feel excited for any of them right now because I'm afraid they're all gonna get cancelled... I'll save my excitement for when I get through the door.

My first show back is next weekend, but Idk if I wanna go now (if it doesn’t get cancelled). If I don’t end up going, my first show back will be an outdoor amphitheater show that isn’t selling too hot. So I think social distancing will be a breeze lol

At least I know with The Mountain Goats they have stated that all their fall shows will have a mandatory mask requirement

That's pretty much me right now. Not getting too excited until the day of.

Yeah, I’m holding off my excitement. I expect some last minute cancels and having to wear a mask at some of the venues I’m going to would probably cause me to sell my tickets. Nothing against masks at all, but wearing a mask in a small, sweaty club sounds like an absolutely miserable experience.

it is so wild/frustrating to see "New Tour YEAH!" announcements amid cancellations/postponement announcements throughout this thread. Time is a flat circle indeed.

I can't blame the artists for trying to get out there and make whatever living they can at this again. Especially those sticking to areas with decent vaccination rates and relatively low hospitalizations.

Also can't blame them for saying "You know what? We tried." When most of these tours were booked, the situation wasn't anywhere near as bad as it is now. And in certain areas it is entirely possible to have a show that is relatively safe with certain protocols in place.

Just really disheartening to see how the selfishness of what is now a minority in our country is affecting the rest of us.

Yeah I can see more artists canceling out of caution and others will just try to ride out as long as they can.

I feel so bad for the bands that are cancelling on their own terms. That must be such a hard decision

My friends and I were talking the show this weekend and we're honestly all expecting a postponement announcement within the next few weeks. I honestly wouldn't be bummed at this point with the rising cases. As long as it's postponed and not canceled.

A lot of these bands haven’t been able to tour for 18 months. I’m sure it hasn’t been an easy year financially for a lot of them, and delaying another 6 months will hurt.

Multnomah County (Portland) just announced a mask mandate. It’s really hard to envision club tours happening in this atmosphere. You know people are going to complain, break the rules during the show and I think it’ll definitely hurt ticket sales. I can’t imagine being a venue and trying to have security crack down on all of this. I will probably sell all of my tickets if the shows go on because it sounds like a recipe for disaster and highly uncomfortable. I feel so bad for the live event industry.

In my personal experience so far, wearing a mask indoor at a show has been pretty fine. Granted I’m not a person who likes being in the crowd so I stand to the side or in the back but I have been to 3 events and I’ve felt more comfortable at them with my mask on.

I'm selling any tickets I have for indoor shows and not buying anymore tickets in advance for anything. I might still go masked up to a couple outdoor smaller/lesser crowded ones.

I mean it would definitely depend on the venue, but most 500-1500 capacity venues here are a sweatbox for sold out shows regardless of where you are at. I could do it for a smaller venue or non sold out show, but for a jam packed show I would not want to endure wearing a mask in such heat.

Sucks that the venues/bands/promoters/crews are the ones getting punished when you refund or don’t buy a ticket. I’ll personally hold onto every ticket I have and if it gets postponed/requires masks/etc, so be it.

Yeah I’m keeping my tickets and going to shows. If I have to mask up and show my vaccine card so be it. I waited too long for live shows to be back so I’ll do what it takes so they keep going on and I can go to the 10 plus shows I have tickets to from the end of this month through November

Same here. It doesn't bother me too much. I love live music way too much
