Pitchfork Announces Lineup for 2021 Festival, Set for September

Pretty sure vaccines, negative tests, and masks has always been the Pitchfork policy. It isn’t newly announced.

 

Welp. I was browsing Reddit and someone posted on the Chicago subreddit about it like it was new news, but looks like you’re right it has been their policy since the start.

 

Know there was some chatter about Spanish Love Songs being on RF, but they're playing the Beat Kitchen on 9/3. Pretty stoked on that.

Saw Seratones open for black pumas last night and they put on a great show. the band is really tight and she can sing her ass off. she is also very fun to watch on stage- radiates energy, joy and excitement.

its funny, i just looked at my current concert calendar and realized every singe show i see before going to riotfest, has a riot band as the opener - radkey for foos, seratones for BP, Meet me at the altar for coheed/the used, and the bronx for DKM/rancid.. sure some of those headliners are also at riot but still a cool little pattern

 

Just got my tickets for this one. Been wanting to see them live for a few years now

 

This is usually the case for me, but that's not how things shook out this time around. Mostly because I was slow to buy tickets initially, and the handful I would have gone to with Riot acts have sold out already (which is good for the bands; not so much for me). I'm seeing NOFX and the Bosstones the weekend after Riot, but that doesn't really count. Hah.

 

Same, I was bummed they weren't on the RF lineup but this is better. BFE was my album of 2020. Excited to see who they get to open.

 

Really hoping they do another batch of tour exclusive vinyl!

 

I think I might know one of the secret bands but I have to check.

 

Who were the secret bands in previous years?

 

2019 was Ramona & kali masi from the riot lineup that year, plus the eradicator & bike tuff, and all of them were secret

 

Haven't heard of any of them... Guess there's no rush for me to go to that show

The Dopamines and the Eradicator are both pretty great! But that’s not really enough to get me out…

Curious to find out who the surprise/secret bands are!

Wasn’t going to do any aftershows but I can’t miss Maxwell Stern with a full band. His record from last year is wonderful.

 

2017 was the Flats and Pkew x3 and boy did that rip, and by rip I mean rip my eardrums to shreds at the airplane engine that was Quenchers

 

2018 was Direct Hit!, Devon Kay and the solutions, and the Jacob Horn trio.

I think Direct Hit! also played in maybe 2016 or something

 

The secret headliner is a good get and will be worth it. The original lineup has changed, so not sure who is direct support now. If you normally do the pizza party you should plan on it still.

 

I am going to guess the secret headliner every day until the Pizza Party and you folks in the know have to stop me when I get it

What if it was a Smashing Pumpkins tribute band named Cherub Rock, but it’s actually the real Smashing Pumpkins and they’re all wearing mustaches pretending not to be the real Smashing Pumpkins

 

Yeah its who I thought it was, ill definitely be there I am HYPED.
