A brief Google search later, it looks like he said last year that it's "not a firm no, but not an eager yes" when it comes to reprising the role. Basically, he wants it to be for a reason that would add something to the character and not just to be a crowd-pleaser. But he also reiterated he doesn't plan to reprise the role for the foreseeable future.

I would say if he did reprise the role for something this phase, it would probably be for something like Secret Invasion since it's A) a couple more years away and B) has the potential to give him something meatier to do. After all, we still don't know where Steve is in the MCU. They joked about space, but what if it's not a joke?

 

yeah like, if he came back for a movie in 2023 or 2024, that would be...what, 5-6 years away from the role? That’s a nice long break if I ever saw one haha

 

If they use Steve Rogers it will definitely be Chris Evans. No way would Marvel bring that character back, even for a cameo, if Chris Evans decided he wouldn’t come back.

There were strong rumours last year that they wanted Evans to come back to play Captain Hydra at some point.

he was initially in another teaser to more directly set up the thunderbolts. i’d imagine they scrapped the teaser but didn’t want to cut him out of the movie entirely. plus, his being in the bookends helps date the movie/place it in the Civil War continuity since that’s the last time we saw him.

 

Was this ever officially confirmed? I thought this was just a rumor from a "leak".

 

Liked this way, way more than I expected. Happy to finally move forward in the MCU without ScarJo. Florence Pugh was an absolute delight and she nailed the snarky younger sibling vibe

 

Finally saw this today and I really enjoyed it. Not the best Marvel movie, but far from the worst.

I'm also a sucker for sentimental shit so all the family nonsense got me by the heartstrings real good.

Looking forward to Florence Pugh putting a cap in Hawkeye's ass.

I also think the "controversy" about Taskmaster is garbage, since Mandarin proves Marvel can always feature a comic accurate Taskmaster at any point in time.

In the meantime, we've got this other Taskmaster to play with, and I'm actually curious if now that she's got her mind back, if her true personality is going to be more like the comic.

 

Thought this was enjoyable. I liked everything with the family interacting and hanging. I thought it was cool whenever I noticed Taskmaster mimicking different Avenger's fighting styles/moves (Cap, Bucky, BP, and I'm sure there were a couple others). Like many Marvel movies, the villain was pretty lame.

I don't know what percentage she gets of that money versus theatrical gross

 

From what I read elsewhere, it sounds like her payday is based on box office profits, and if half of the money Disney's making on this comes from Disney+ purchases, that means her profits are stunted. So from that perspective, I don't blame her for a being a little miffed.

 

I mean we all kinda figured that was why they didn't dump it to begin with. Not at all surprising that she is coming for them. I'm curious if future contracts have contingency clauses for this kinda thing.
