There seem to be a couple of venues I am not familiar with: Heartwood Soundstage, Vecinos, 4th Avenue Food Park and Fox Lounge. Are these new places or renamed places? Anyone know?

Heartwood is the new outdoor stage apparently kind of far out, past the civic media center

    Vecinos is Durty Nellys

I tihkn 4th Ave is where Big Lou's was but not sure and also not sure about Fox

I think they are new (for fest). Heartwood and 4th Ave are apparently both outdoor venues. Don't know much about any of them though.

Heartwood is outdoors? Interesting! I looked at the site and it didn't seem to indicate that it would be outdoors. Wonder if that means capacity will be a bit more than what I read up on earlier (200)?

Based on pictures I found looks like it is indoor/outdoor?

Randy (one of the people who runs fest) said it was outdoors on the fest friends facebook group.

From the newsletter earlier: "We are adding a new space to the FEST schedule this year. It’s called Heartwood Soundstage and they have a really rad outside space we are gonna take over for FEST 19!!!"

Shouldn’t have any issues getting in this year. At Fest 18 it did hit capacity for Spanish Love Songs and there was line of people that didn’t get in...don’t see that kind of draw this year

Really? I got into that set after they started haha left AM! early to catch most of it. Those people should have waited!

Thinking about canceling my flight and taking the refund on my tickets and going to Furnace Fest instead. Was already on the fence about this year’s lineup (a lot of solid bands, but not a lot of things worth flying to florida for). Losing GB and realizing Mover Shaker and Kill Lincoln clash with The Wonder Years might have been the final nail in the coffin.

They bumped IIOI into Worriers slot so now that conflicts with Direct Hit... pain

Guess I can close out Fest with Copyrights now though

I like that II/OI record, but there's no way I'm missing that for Direct Hit! and/or a No Doubt cover set from Catbite. Hah. And I certainly wouldn't be skipping out on Such Gold or Pears early to be sure I got in for it either...

TBH, bummed as I am to not be seeing Worriers that weekend? It kinda relieved some of my set conflict stress. Haha.

Now. If only Tightwire and Rational Anthem weren't playing the same time as Telethon and Save Ends...

Damn yeah Proper set is a must for me, one of my favs! I'll watch most of the No Doubt cover set and sadly miss DH

Anybody have any guesses as to who the "surprise" Bo Diddley band on Sunday might be? Looking at the poster positioning, the size of the blacked out text, and the festival talking about how it's a special set... I'm feeling like it might be Avail. I did a mock-up using font sizes/spacing of the poster and that name fit pretty perfectly.

Potentially a little weird for them to go on right before their singer's solo set. Or maybe that would be perfect? Hah.

Avail would be sick! I think it will be a band touring the southeast around Fest and can squeeze in an early set on a travel day or something, but they have to wait until the tour is announced before announcing the Fest show

    That would make sense too.

The only reason I was thinking Avail is because (a) Tim will already be there on that same stage that day, (b) Richmond is just down the street, (c) the band name fits almost too perfectly and is placed very high up on the poster, and (d) the festival seems really, really stoked about whoever it is they've booked in that slot. And there's no reason for them to hype it like that because there's no tickets to sell... And Avail warrants that level of hype for that particular Fest.

It can be whoever, I'm sure. But it just feels like they'd be a logical guess. And really, it's the only one I can come up with. Haha.

I think they would use Avail to sell tickets, and not throw them on to a sold out year. I’m hoping you are right though, that would be the best mystery band Fest ever had. Any chance it could be Eve6, do they fit in that spot on the poster? It seems absurd, but maybe where there’s smoke there is fire based on some of the Twitter banter.

It looks like Teenage Bottlerocket have either been dropped or dropped out, anyone know if this is because of the recent outing of the singer as an abuser in the Enough podcast?

  21. Found this in the comments on their latest Instagram post. Good on them for taking action and doing the right thing quickly (and fuck TBR)

Yeah, I noticed this earlier, well done Fest for not sweeping this under the carpet.

The statement from TBR was total victim blaming BS and many local fans called them out in the FB comments. Glad they got dropped and hopefully Broadway Calls drops from their tour as well.

One Step Closer is on tour with Comeback Kid, Strike Anywhere, and Be Well immediately after Fest. I asked them on Instagram if they were gonna be added to fest since all the other bands on that tour were playing. They said “unfortunately, no”— but I could still see them being a TBA or secret set band

I think The Flatliners would be the perfect TBR replacement. Basically the right size, and Cresswell will already be there with HWM (I think) doesn't seem like it will be trouble for Canada folks to get in since Comeback Kid is still on?

Would be awesome, but I doubt it. All the mystery bands are bands already playing the festival doing special/intimate sets. And I don't know what the point of keeping them TBA would be
