Y'all don't tithe a tenth or your annual income to your local mosh organization?

You should go look at the replies on that tweet. It's just laughably bad. If they were just a cringy group of push moshers, it wouldn't be a problem, but they're all 40 year old dudes and some of them have been known to target younger (sometimes female) hardcore dancers.

I Googled "Local Mosh Organization" because the whole thing is fascinating to me, and had to share this quote:

Lol. After taking a look at their social media, it just looks like they're a bunch of dorks who are like the metal version of a biker club. But yeah if they're policing behavior at shows especially towards non-males, then that's shitty. At shows in this area, there are a few people of that ilk but they're not organized so it's much easier to laugh them off...well, that and there's not a lot of shows in this area of that type nowadays they'd show up that I'd be at too. I can't imagine even of those dorks would show up at the next show I have lined up in a few weeks (Enforced). I guess we'll see at Exhumed in November if the pandemic affected them.

It's been a thing in Dallas for a long time (see the article that @Weird LiBrary quoted) and once upon a time, it might have made some sort of sense to group together against abusive moshers or people coming to shows to start trouble, but at this point, they're the ones causing issues. They've kinda just been there up until now, and just recently started causing more problems... maybe because the hardcore/metal crowd are starting to crossover more???? But they're not a real issue. The hardcore kids far outnumber them, and have/will put an end to things pretty quickly.

Of all forms of music discussion, discourse over the ethics of moshing/hardcore-dancing/stage-diving make me go cross-eyed the most. "Local mosh organization" hahahaha what the fuck.

I was just talking about this in a group chat. I bought Vol 3 in 2004 with having little knowledge about the band but they were so hyped by people that I had to pick it up. I was straight up blown away by how aggressive and heavy his playing was, it was absolutely a gateway that lead me to finding heavier bands and falling in love with metal. This really sucks, Joey was such a talented drummer and imo, he was our generation’s Dave Lombardo, a drummer who’s playing influenced countless others and pushed them to be better musicians. RIP to a true great.
