the drumming on this EP is really terrible, they really lost something without Tony behind the kit. The last two songs are the best, but with Jr high-level garage drumming, it makes it really hard to enjoy any of it

 

This feels like an EP of demos. Maybe that was the intent.

I don't usually post... anything at all on these forums anymore, but this has triggered my need to spread my opinion into the ether.

Weirdly, I kind of agree with all takes on this EP. It is a fun EP, and it does also sound like a bunch of demos. It is both not what I wanted from Eve 6 and also everything I expected.

I would feel much better about this EP if I knew that there was an album coming that was more like the Eve 6 I remember. I actually like Black Nova, and Angel Of The Supermarket sounds like the kind of song I'd expect them to write, just not in the format I'd prefer.

It's like if Eve 6 time traveled to before they came into contact with studios and producers and etc. and became a band making a tape in their parents' garage again. Maybe that's the joke, I don't know how Max's mind works. Judging from their Twitter over the last year, I'm not sure Max knows either.

 

It does kinda sounds like Eleventeen demos haha

 

Apparently they re-recorded Anytime. Cool.

 

Love that song. Hopefully the snare sound is still super tinny haha.

Smart move considering it's not on streaming (at least not on Spotify) and it's basically one of their most popular songs. And a great song on top of that. The slick Horrorscope sound of the original will be difficult to improve on though.

 

Plus, the current drummer is fucking terrible

 

I listened to the song repeatedly off an awful mp3 rip years ago. Sonically, they basically need to compete with that, for me personally. Lol

 

Haha fair enough. Horrorscope sounds amazing to my ears and Anytime was from those sessions...Tom Lord-Alge mixing, doesn't get much better than that.

I really enjoy the simplicity of drumming on the new EP.

 

Oh I'm not disagreeing. It was a knock on the file sharing era of music for me. I don't know that I've ever heard the song in proper quality.

 

Oh dang you should hear a good rip of it. It's fantastic.

 

I can't tell if it's a joke, but apparently M Night Shyamaln directed a music video for them and it's out this week
