I’m a big defender of a couple lesser-appreciated Shyamalan movies (the Village is one of my favorite movies of all time) but the Happening comparison has me a little nervous haha. Still excited for this though

 

if i had to see this…

 

body horror? I'm 100% in.

 

We would be lucky if it was as good as The Happening.

 

I am pretty intrigued by this and agree he's been on an upswing recently, but if it's even in the same ballpark of quality as Unbreakable I will eat every hat I own (several)

 

so the trailer has all the hallmarks of a bad M night Shyamalan film which comes down to him taking fantastic actors/actresses and getting them to deliver lines in a really corny/bad/offputting way. The whole Mark Whalberg 'What? nooo' comes to mind from the trailer.

 

this is the most fucked up thing you will (or won’t, if your foresight is better than mine) ever watch for possibly some time

 

I'm expecting this to be bad, but I'm very excited for it regardless.

 

This looks like a lot of fun. Excited to see it.

 

I’m sure this will be, at the very least, extremely wild

 

What a trip. His best in years.

 

I’ve never seen another director so adept at taking very good actors and getting them to act badly.

 

A lot of discussion will be about the twist, like it always is with Shyamalan, but it is kind of undercut by the ending within the film, which strips away the moral questions of what the island was for and what the purpose of it all was. It is impossible to know what happened, but it feels like outside interference.

 

You’ve clearly never seen a George Lucas movie

 

Lucas wishes he was as good at it as Shyamalan is

Fucking loved this. A lot of people will hate it. Disagree.

 

Shyamalan changed the ending himself VERY recently, so recently that the cast that had seen the movie didn’t even know the new ending.

 

I do wish he would get a fucking co-writer. I agree, he just does not know how to write dialogue at all.

 

God, his confidence with the camera is this thing is just a marvel to watch at times.

It’s definitely a well made, good looking movie. Just a shame the dialogue and performances aren’t up to the same level.
