last i remember they were good

 

George Lucas gets an incomplete as a director because he was consumed by Star Wars. The prequels are as bad as advertised but the newer films prove how little there is to mine from that franchise.

 

Blow Out is better than Star Wars

 

Not to beat a dead horse but I do think Marvel is a little bit to blame for everyone watching movies and going “why isn’t this character doing the right thing all the time in every situation”. I know Marvel heroes have arcs and flaws but they are often muddled and take a backseat to likability.

 

I hate when people don't think that flaws make a character more interesting, but I really don't think Marvel is to blame for that

 

they certainly at the very least deserve a large portion of the responsibility of dwindling attention spans for movie watchers

 

This isn't meant as some kind of gotcha or "well what are you gonna do about it" thing but since I know we have a few teachers that hang around, has the rise of media illiteracy changed your approach with teaching at all? Super curious how this is effecting lit classes and such

 

I see the issue a lot when we talk about racial issues. They don't understand why we are reading about events or people who were racist, as if talking about racism is in itself racist.

 

This one broke me

 

It comes from a place of good intentions, stemming from accountability and the Me Too movement, but they end up confusing depiction with endorsement. The other day someone was trying to call out Taxi Driver because there is a child prostitute, as if the film thought this was a good career choice.

 

Got tickets for a screening of road runner the movie about Anthony Bourdain.

 

I would watch this.
