Thought I would ask Belmont and Capstan a simple question on Twitter. Hopefully they respond. As someone who has been a fan of both bands, it's disappointing how silent they have been throughout all of this.

 

I love how his lawyer's response is, "the stories of the victims are way too similar, it's a money grab"...instead, maybe he should think "hmmm, these girls stories have a lot of commonalities, maybe my client is a rapist?"

Bassnectar, Datsik, Diplo, etc (I'm sure I'm forgetting others)...but it seems like this bro-y white boy EDM scene might be a problem.

 

I just learned today that Turnstile had Diplo involved with their last record?

Was that before or after all of his stuff came out?

 

I only learned that recently too, but had no idea there was stuff about Diplo. Really know nothing about him other than he’s a big name

 

At a cursory Wikipedia glance, it looks like the first allegation against Diplo came November of last year. The Turstile record was released in 2018.

 

God was it really only last November? Feels like longer for some reason, but yea the whole EDM blow up of the early 2010's created a scene that I'm sadly not surprised harbors guys like this. Although Diplo was around before that whole scene, but it definitely helped boost his public profile.

update on that 1975/Adam Powell situation. apparently there are credible sexual assault allegations against 3 members of the band?

yeah if it's a serious enough situation that someone's already received legal threats their hands are tied for now I guess

 

Can someone explain how there can be "credible allegations" against "three or four members"? By definition, if there is a credible allegation, you should know how many people are being accused... right?

Dirty Hit acted very shady with the "We conducted an investigation on ourselves, found no fault, but we fired the guy who y'all are concerned about."

not from what I've seen, that's the main thing that's come to light today

Can’t find initial allegations

 

I was just about to say that I looked up their history and apparently they had prior multiple members that were doing shit with underage girls so one of them reformed the band with new members, including the one that just got kicked out now, and that maaaaaaybe they should just hang up the towel. And then they posted this

So I guess that's that, at least on their end

 

The victim's account is genuinely one of the most harrowing I've ever seen in this scene. Thank god this band is gone and kudos to the community for applying pressure so quickly.
