I’m just saying, there’s only big bad who’d want to control time and that’s Kang.

They don't need to use Kang specifically. Kang is five different people. With the actor saying he won't appear, it leads me to believe they build him up by introducing one of his variants. I think it makes more sense to use Immortus to introduce Kang. Gotta do a slow rollout to Kang, like Thanos.

Also, with them going so hard into the Young Avengers stuff, Iron Lad will probably show up at some point.

This episode made me enjoy last weeks episode more now that I see what was happening and understand why. Love the Doctor Who vibes this series has been giving off.

Immortus is a solid guess and I’ll be honest, I totally forgot about him. It would make sense considering Immortus has the direct tie with the Time-Keepers in the comics.

“He calls himself the Master of Time! "Gardener of Time" is more truthful! He prunes away the chronal branches deemed by othersto be dangerous, reducing reality to a bloodless meadow! But that's not the way of warriors -- of men! I say, let it be a forest! Let it be a jungle!”

my thought was that, like someone brought up in the thread earlier, the very existence of Variants means there is a multiverse/multiple timelines. so it would seem the TVA/Kang/TimeLoki/whoever is pruning them away to establish their Sacred Timeline. the fact that so many Loki’s have been pruned points to this timeline being put together by another Variant Loki who wants to be the only one.

This got me wondering for a moment if we've heard the TVA talk about any variants that aren't potentially some type of Loki and then I remembered, in the second episode I think it was Mobius that said Loki is only the variant that comes up the most.

Frankly, I feel the same way about the villain being another Loki as I did about the Sharon Carter plotline in FATWS: it makes sense to me in terms of the themes of the show and would absolutely be a credible twist, but it's going to irritate me nevertheless, because it's not what my comic book nerd lizard brain expects.

The Ramona connection and the villain's modus operandi makes me want to believe it's Kang, especially since he's going to appear in a future movie and he's too big a threat to be wasted in a single movie. It makes more sense if he's a recurring threat throughout the phase, all the more if this phase is seriously dealing with the prospect of the multiverse.

But I've been wrong before, and I know I shouldn't expect the MCU to follow comics lore at all at this juncture. Beyond that, I also feel it's not good storytelling to introduce a character super late into a story unless there's a legit good reason for it. I'm not sure there's enough time in two episodes to properly introduce Kang and explain what his deal is.

EDIT: Additional thought just now. I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that Loki is getting a second season. What if it legit needs two seasons to tell the current story, but there's a gap because the second more directly deals with Kang?

I’ll read into speculation here after the series is done since I don’t want to spoil this show as I don’t know the comics.

But man I love this show! Ep 4 was wild.

    I do not exist.

Caught up with the last two episodes over the weekend and had a wonderful moment...

At the end I said to my wife, “I wonder who plays Sylvia, her accent has hints of mine.” We waited until the credits and saw Sophia Di Martino. I said “that’s funny, I had a teacher called Mrs Di Martino when I was in Year 6” (age 10-11 for the Americans). “I wonder if this is her daughter.”

I would have thought nothing more of it but my wife looked her up and she was born in Nottinghamshire. I checked with my brothers and she is literally the daughter of my old teacher!

    Small world.

(Can I claim to have been taught by Loki’s mum?!?)

Every episode that goes by, I'm more and more in disbelief that this was by far my least anticipated MCU thing post-Endgame. If the finale is as good as everything leading up to it, it'll pretty easily be in my top MCU projects

  19. I definitely agree with this. I'll be 100% honest in saying that I was very "Eh" on this when it was first announced - felt like a way to continue to milk Tom Hiddleston's Loki after a number of prior deaths in the MCU - but I've really loved this entire thing.

The show I thought I'd like the most, Falcon and Winter Soldier, ended up being the one I like the least so far. I'll at least hand it to Marvel for keeping me on my toes haha.

Fantastic episode. Like others, this may end up being one of my favorite things they've done. The character development has been top notch. This episode must've cost a pretty penny to make too. Visually stunning.
