I need some time to think over how I felt about False Positive.

  3. Come True was by far the most frustrating and uneven viewing experience I've ever had. I've never seen a movie with such a promising first act whiff it so badly in the second half. Great production design and atmosphere, one truly scary moment, and then just....unbelievably bad. Truly baffling

I really enjoyed the first one. Alvarez not directing sucks, but at least he's a writer. Still don't think this needs a sequel though.

This is exactly how I felt. The reveal felt very undeserved.

  7. Completely unearned. I'll be the first to admit I didn't know much about Carl Jung, and I did some reading after the movie to make sure I was following correctly, but even with that additional context...just botched execution imo. And without spoiling in case anyone else wants to give it a go, I've never had a particular scene take me so out of a movie before.

  8. Don't Breathe 2 looks wild. Wasn't sure how I felt about them framing him as the protagonist first, but it definitely seems more complicated than that. About time I rewatched the first.

  9. Trailer seems to shows a lot, fyi.

I don't really trust blumhouse with the exorcist but if they get the right director (Flanigan maybe?) I'd be interested

I want to see him get truly scary because I know the character stuff will be great already but i'd like to see him go wild

  18. No thanks to Flanagan. Give it to Ti West, Jordan Peele, or Ari Aster please.

  19. I loved Censor so much, especially in contrast to Come True. Looked great, original premise, stellar casting and performances, and a tight 80 minutes. Can't ask for much more.

Saying 1994 is packed with sex and drugs makes me less interested.

Give The Exorcist to someone who will really tap into like, supreme unflinching bleak moviemaking. I like Flanagan but he has created his own stylistic brand at this point and I think it's too polished for something like this. It would never happen but I would prefer to see it go to someone who is more unknown like a Can Evrenol, Nicolas Pesce, Bryan Bertino, Oz Perkins, etc.

On another note, Near Dark, Manhunter, Thirteen Ghosts remake, Burnt Offerings, and Creepshow 1 are all on Shudder now

Conjuring 3 is leaving HBO Max on Saturday, so I’m bringing them all. Now I know where Home Is Where got the album art for their new EP.
