Yeah. I'm up to contribute, but I've tried curating one a couple times (and am guilty towards helping it fizzle out) and it has always fallen by the wayside.

Here's the latest attempt from my end at a collaborative playlist with a focus on newer tunes. I added a bunch of tracks that were new singles or are from new album releases.

I'm not really sure about rules, but since we kind of focus on newer music with the bulk of the postings here the focus should probably be on that. Feel free to add whatever as long as it's somewhat within the focus of this thread. Happy listening!

I think I did one too a year ago to give us something to do in the pandemic. I'd be down to start a new one again if you don't but it would make sure I make it collaborative from the get go.

 

I always end up needing to curate my own playlists harder than anything else ahahaha. I keep a large catalog of Spotify playlists full of entire albums for "listen to later" purposes, organized mostly by genre and vibe but sometimes by label and regional scene.

I never really listened to Beartooth but decided to give the new record a shot. Have they always been this poppy?

This new one is a weird one. In an interview with Jose Mangin, Caleb said that he set out to write out the heaviest record he could. I think musically it’s some of the heaviest songs but overall it’s very catchy at the same time. Definitely the most polarizing record he has written yet.

 

I only listened to the first 5 tracks or so but I just heard pop hooks. I may go back and listen to the rest but I'm not in any hurry. Any opinion on their previous material?

 

If you listen to Disgusting and Aggressive back to back its just pure energy and a great mix of metal core mixed with punk rock. Disease definitely saw them leaning into a far more accessible sound. To be fair, every album has gotten some time on Octane.

Before lockdown, my friend saw them open for ADTR and said they were the best of the bunch.

 

I was just curious because I've seen a lot of people who's opinions I respect praise them, and they've toured with a bunch of bands that I'm into, but I've never really given them a shot. I may have to try Disgusting and Aggressive at some point.

 

I think they are a solid band that deserve praise.
