I went to Emo Nite after the Alt Press Music Awards one year and it was a blast. Movements were guest DJs and Frank Zummo and Adrian Young did dueling drum sets too.

Here in Pittsburgh we have Pop Punk Night, a small upstairs bar venue with a DJ who plays just pop punk stuff from a playlist basically. Then we have Sadderday which is in a larger bar backroom with a DJ who plays a pop-punk/emo stuff, but remixed to be more "club" sounding. Both can get repetitive if you go every month, but it's super fun to just go have a blast with friends!

I listened to what is referred to as emo (and mainstream emo) at that in college back in the early/mid-00's. I have zero interest in going to a bar and screaming along to those songs played by a DJ now that I'm turning 38 in November but if that formula works, more power to em. The fragmentation of that genre must make it really hard to do a large scale event. Like, I can't imagine a DJ throwing on Copeland, Acceptable, The Juliana Theory, etc. and getting a good crowd response but who knows.
