I think it looks really good actually, which surprises me because I actually did think Watch_Dogs 1 was boooooring

 

I liked WD1 but stopped playing after a few hours. Hated the main character and the story. It had huge potential though.

 

The way they were talking, I thought it was going to be some major upgrade from the first one but in all honesty it doesn't look that different. Also, the new protagonist doesn't seem very interesting at all. I thought I'd be more excited about it seeing as I was one of the few people who liked the first game but at this point I can't see myself buying it.

 

this. thought Aiden (sp?) was so bland and I guess I just didn't really care for any of the motivation behind any of the story.

That said, I loooved some of the multiplayer aspects, specifically the Hide-n-seek invader mode and the one where you have to race to a location while someone is in a helicopter hacking obstacles.

 

What makes the protagonist not interesting?

Deus Ex: HR, WW2k16, PGA Tour, Inside, Fifa 16, NHL16, Superhot, Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Ori: Blind Forest, Quantum Break, Halo 5, Rainbow Six: Siege, Rocket League, NBA2k16, Wolf Among Us, This War of Mine, Life is Strange, Mortal Kombat X, Madden 16, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Batman Arkham Knight, Rayman Legends, Halo:MC, the Evil Within, CoD: Advanced Warfare, Shadow of Mordor, CoD: Ghosts, Destiny, Titanfall.

Okay so looking at that list the games I regret CoD Advanced Warfare too. Only one I haven't beat is This War of Mine. And a bunch of those were free from Xbox gold.

 

I was one of the few people who liked Aiden Pierce, so firstly I'm very disappointed that they're not continuing his story. I thought there was more they could have done with him, especially since the first one kinda ended on a cliffhanger. I've watched all the gameplay videos, etc that they've released from Watch Dogs 2 and nothing about this new guy grabs me at all. WD2 feels more like a GTA game so far as it seems to be moving away from how dark the first Watch Dogs was in the direction of a more carefree fun vibe. I just really wish we were seeing more of Aiden. I know that's not a popular opinion but whatever.

 

Oh, I thought the MP was terrible and completely tacked on. In theory (just like AC) it was a cool idea but was subpar in comparison to other MP games. Don't even get me started about the motorcycle races.

 

granted those were the only 2 modes I played, and honestly I probably would have gotten the same enjoyment out of them if they were against cpu opponents.

And while I agree with the AC MP example (like those are so frustrating and never play as cool as you think they should), but when it comes to tacked on MP modes, I usually look at it like it's a completely different development team working on it and you don't really have to ever play it, it just serves to get a little extra life out of a game. And hey sometimes you get lucky and the tacked on MP is that Mass Effect 3 multiplayer mode which was my favorite multiplayer experience in years

 

Being a completionist made it a little different and unfortunately there were achievements/trophies associated with it. Luckily, there wasn't much required in the area of MP and I did want to enjoy it but it was pretty awful.

 

ok yeah I'll concede that I really kinda despise MP mode trophies. Ya know, unless it's like CoD or something where that's basically all you're buying it for.

 

the invader multiplayer part was really fun and intense, so i'm glad they're bringing that back

 

Invader mp always sounds amazing. But I'm so terrible at games they terrify me.

 

Don't play Dark Souls then! Haha!

 

The appeal wore off after a while when you were in the middle of some mission and the game notifies you: "XsniperX69 has entered your world" (or something like that...)

 

Watch Dogs drop-in multiplayer can be turned on or off

i don't know if you know that haha

I forgot to mention, I did that as soon as I finished all the MP!

 

Is the first Watch Dogs worth getting at this point? The second looks good, but I'm kinda on the fence with it. Wondering if playing the first would push me over the edge to pick up the sequel.

Based on most people's reactions to the first game, it'll probably put you off buying the sequel lol

 

Yeah that's why I asked, hah. It's like $13 for PS4, which is suspiciously cheap.

Yeah that's what made me hold off for so long. I guess I'm wondering if any of those issues were addressed, or if I'd just be buying the same game with the same issues that were there on release. My roommate at the time bought it and enjoyed it enough, but it seemed to wear off pretty quick.

 

you could always just hope they release it as a free PS+ game before 2 gets released in order to build hype for it
