I’m curious if this grows on me after a few listens. I won’t jump to a conclusion , it was just “there” for me the first listen. But I also watched the video which definitely grabs you visually, so maybe I should listen to the song itself without the video.

 

It's worth a listen by itself, there's some nice production that you might miss with all the visuals

It is the first song in recent memory that sounds like it was meant for summer. I doubt it will go off on radio, especially if nothing from “Melodrama” connected, but it should do well on streaming services.

 

Me and my partner just listened to it, we agreed it's odd to hear such a happy lorde song lolol

My fear with her calling the album a “summer companion” is that she says that and it gets released in something like mid August.

 

I normally only listen to pre-release singles once, but I’ve played this four times. It’s such a good kickoff for the new era. It lets you know in no uncertain terms that this won’t be Melodrama Pt. 2.
