    why not an mls stadium?
    (guessing vegas doesn't have one)

They don't, but if they're so hellbent on running vegas that weekend, the raiders' place will have to do.

Not terribly surprising that WWE is running a stadium for the first major full capacity show in almost a year and a half. I expect that they think there's enough pent up excitement that they can draw a larger crowd. Generally speaking, the music industry is enjoying a lot of artist sell outs that maybe wouldn't have done quite so hot so quickly in a pre-pandemic world. There is definitely a strong desire for live entertainment, so I can see their line of thinking.

I agree, though, that choosing to do it in a market that's not super strong for them may backfire. They would've been much better suited to do an outdoor baseball stadium in one of their hotter markets if they could've booked one. MLB makes it tough, but you could realistically pick one of your higher drawing cities that's on an away stint that weekend and make it work.

I know Fenway Park angled to get Summerslam a few years ago and it didn't work out. The Sox are in town that weekend, so it wouldn't have worked this year either, but I'm sure there's at least one ballpark that would've jumped at the chance.

I think running Vegas right before fantasy season starts up, etc is smart...can be a combo destination thing.

Its just that they only got like 36k at Minute Maid park before the pandemic for a non-WM PPV, they're gonna have to paper over 10-15k tickets to get the "sell out" they'll pretend to have

I mean, the Manny fight is the reason people are going to be in Vegas.

Even as resident Chorus.fm biggest WWE defender, I can’t tell you the last time I watched Raw. I see they are still promoting Eva returning soon. Seems like Emmalina all over. Why would you wait so long. Nobody is tuning in anyway

  7. Lol at tonight’s “main event”

It’s still funny to me to see Monday nights go by in the thread without like a single live post during the show. What a fucking indictment of the product.

Hasn't Vegas historically been a pretty bad town for WWE attendance-wise? Seems weird that they're doing such a large venue there when there is another major event going on. And all this chatter about them running the PPV so people can leave before the Manny fight is wild to me. They really expect people to double-up and go to both events that night?

and how much cross over is there between wrestling and boxing fans? Aside from cost alone deterring people, idk anyone who is a fan of both

They’ll probably ask a bunch of attitude era dudes to make some kind of appearance, I feel like most ufc and boxing fans will be into that.

I think it’s going to sell well. They are gonna load this thing up with Cena, Brock, and Edge. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Becky back as well.

    My guess is:
    Roman /Cena
    Brock / Bobby
    Edge / Rollins?

  17. Yeah I think this is most likely it

Maybe I’m naive but I think it’s going to sell really well.

I think if they draw 50K that would be pretty good. I could see it with Brock and Cena. It’s the first big wrestling event on the west coast in a brand new stadium. I still think LA would have been smarter. I’ve heard the parking at the venue is super expensive and a 1-2 mile walk to the venue. Sounds awful in the Vegas heat.

Raw has got to be approaching all time lows creatively at this point. I know the ratings are their lowest ever, and now the product is matching that.

Smackdown, on the other hand, continues to be the wrestling show I look forward to most every week. It's insane that they're being written by the same team.

la has two mls stadiums, and the red bulls have one in ny/nj. you can have the stadium feel, but a bit smaller for that intimacy. hell, toyota stadium outside dallas would be a good spot too.but flights are so expensive (for me) right now, that i just might make the drive from houston to make this show a part of my west coast road trip.

It’s also late august and an outdoor stadium in those areas sounds like hell for fans and wrestlers. I get wanting to do an indoor stadium, but Vegas is just the wrong city in my opinion.

Maybe MLS teams don't want to deal with that headache in the middle of the season?
