Ughhhh I hate this. Proper. is usually such a positive voice for the scene.

On one hand, even before the survivor came forward, TMP had a reputation for bringing other bands full of straight white dudes only on tour. It’s good that they’re changing that. And in that sense it’s fine that Proper. wants to be a part of that.

But mannnnnn TMP has done very minimal “work” in regards to making amends for their sexual assault and they do not deserve to be on tour at all. It sucks that someone so connected is either unaware of this or doesn’t care.

This one is legit making me sad. It would be much, much simpler if they were honest that for them, "restorative justice" for the victim was less important (or completely irrelevant, tbh) to them than the opportunity the tour presents. Which, okay. If that's how you feel, I guess that's how you feel. But the whole "I'm working on restoration, for everyone involved" line just makes this... what? That is clearly not the case. I don't want this to cost Proper. their platform because as others have said, they've been such a positive force for young POC (especially Black) and queer musicians (because we all know they're ironically way more likely to be held ~accountable~ for this than TMP/Belmont ever is for being the problem in the first place) but this display feels so defensive and cruel that I truly don't know what to say

 

I hadn’t seen anyone actually point out the statement to them or confirm that they had actually read it, so I asked. And well, at this point I really don’t know what to say.

 

This is just so baffling.

 

So they just don't believe the survivor then? I don't know what else to take from this tweet other than that they don't believe her.

 

I guess they're just shitty people. This really sucks.

 

Saying they are shitty people is a stretch - are they making a shitty decision? Yes they seem to be choosing this tour over accountability

I bet Dylan from TMP is real happy about how much attention Proper. is drawing to the sexual assault he's been trying to downplay for the last three years.

this is admittedly my first taste of them, i've never heard their music, so this isn't really a good first impression on their part!

 

Yeah this person clearly doesn't believe Dylan's survivor. Only explanation for this statement.
