Well, with the 2022 news out, I’m looking forward to whatever bands are being announced later this week.

After thinking about it, I’m guessing that we’ll get some more bands in genres that so far don’t have much representation on the lineup. Specifically, some more “heavy” acts, and maybe some more indie rock acts too on the contemporary side. Because looking at the lineup again, The Ghost Inside and Alex G both feel kind of out of place on the lineup tbh

Like, not in a “they wouldn’t play Riot” way, but more as in a “there aren’t many bands similar to them on the lineup” sort of way

 

I kinda hope we don't get more indie, though what you're saying would make sense. Personally, though, I could also see Alex G fitting just fine on the main stage same day as the Pumpkins. Or any random day on the side stage later in the afternoon. The line-up has plenty of laidback/chill artists. I want some high energy adds in this final wave.

So obviously, I'm all for more heavier additions. But I would argue that they could make it work with what they have and maybe 1-2 more... Faith No More with Coheed & Cambria, the Ghost Inside, Every Time I Die, the Bled, and Fever 333 would work remarkably well. It's not heavy-heavy overall, but it would be close enough that it could work. And I don't see them booking a full stage of metalcore or anything like that.

Lol. They may be a punk band in sound, but they left behind the punk ethos a long time ago when that million dollar paycheck came calling

The Misfits are a weird one. I fully understand where @domotime2 is coming from. But I also never really took them as the kind of band with any actual ethics or ideals, so it personally doesn't bother me.

Weirdly, I feel more upset by Rancid and Alkaline Trio opening a show that costs that much than I do the Misfits charging that much. And when I say "more upset" I mean, I'm still hardly bothered at all by it... That's just the way of the world, unfortunately. If they came to Boston I'd probably plop down the money for a ticket.

But I fully understand people who might see that as not worth it or even a rip-off.

 

Hoping and expecting to see Saves the Day dropped off the line-up when the new wave of bands dropped. Hospital Bracelet too. After reading up on both situations, they're both really fucked...

And honestly, if the promoters don't make the decision to do it themselves, I'm almost certain Thursday will say something about it or just drop off themselves.

 

As someone now going in 2022, I am VERY happy with MCR & The Misfits. Gonna get spooky.

 

Well considering they probably spent over a million dollars on only two bands so far, I’m guessing the Sunday headliner is going to be much much cheaper. I think someone like maybe Bright Eyes or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would get that third spot

 

I could see that. But part of me wonders why waste the hype of the Misfits this far in advance if they don’t have another headliner in the works that will create a lot of hype.

why would they tuck it away there and not post in anywhere so people actually see it without having to go to their ticket page

 

also looking on the lineup page looks like hospital bracelet aren't listed anymore but saves the day still is

Honestly, I bet Saves is off already. But from a graphic design stand point, it’s easier to pull the last band listed than one where Saves is...

Especially when they’d need to re-do it all in a few days.

 

I mean they could have removed their name from the lineup that’s typed out but they didn’t. What’s so hard from going up a couple of lines and hitting the delete/backspace button to get rid of their name

 

The obscure mosh captain on Reddit said that riot fest said they’re releasing the rest of the lineup and single day tickets on Friday.

has anyone else seen Riot Fest say this anywhere? I feel like that’s something we would have caught

 

No, they’ve just said “later this week”

 

My guess it will be Thursday or Friday after lolla announces their stuff

 

And last week all they said was “next week”.
