Jesus Christ this is so fucked up, Chris is genuinely psychotic. I hope he gets help, but this is insane. I don’t think there’s any scenario where he can get healthy enough for it to be safe allowing him to have any platform. He obviously can’t handle fame to any degree. I’m thankful for the positive influence the band has had on my life in the past, but I don’t think that can continue moving forward. This is a huge bummer.

 

I can’t get over how creepy the timer thing is. As someone who survived an abusive relationship I got that same exact feeling I used to have in my stomach reading all the slides. I feel awful for the victim(s) and really really hope Chris gets help he clearly needs. Never want to listen to STD again.

 

Been worried about him for a while, it’s such a shame it got this bad.

 

I have been a long time Saves the Day fan for easily 20+ years. I have seen these guys on tour on a yearly basis for something like 15 years...when they were in town or within driving distance, I was always there to catch them. Their music pulled me through some dark times in my life. That being said...I am done with them. And quite frankly, from his post, Chris knows this is the end too. It's a shame the band had to go out like this, but, fuck Chris. This is not acceptable and there are no excuses for it.

 

Woah, just finished reading through the entire story. Those timers gave me the creeps.

That timer bit feels like something out of a psychological horror. So unnerving to not just read, but to see screenshots of too. How did doing that even cross his mind (especially doing it over text)? It’s so fucked.

 

The removal of empathy is something way different than depression or alcoholism or a psychiatric disorder and that difference is an important distinction.

Even still, trying to find an excuse is sick.

I couldn't make it through the whole thing and I won't be listening to a STD song again.

 

Until I hear that he behaved this way his whole life, I’ll probably still occasionally enjoy their older stuff, but I guess we’ll see.

 

As a listener, one thing I always struggle with in these situations is what to do with features. Like, Razia’s Shadow isn’t an album you can really skip songs on due to the story, but Chris is featured on a song and I don’t know how I’d feel hearing his voice again. Then there’s Two Tongues... How do you guys handle this? I’m really conflicted on how to handle it. Especially considering I’ve been a victim of sexual assault and harassment.

 

i dont know if his behavior has been consistent, but there is mention of Chris at 20 years old grooming this person since they were 11 ..

The comments on Chris’ Instagram statement post are awful, so many people excusing his behavior and saying it’s not that serious.

 

I hate to be that person, but I can't find where everyone is reading the detailed things everyone keeps mentioning... All I see are two posts, and one is the studio picture. The second is very brief. ?

Well, it's over. Sucks. I know the band engaged in typical rock-star groupie behavior during their heyday, which I always thought was kind of gross but consensual and above board.

The fact that this band could never hold a lineup after SWYA makes a lot of sense now. I do hope Chris gets help but not a second chance, if that makes sense.

 

Having grappled with the same thing, you can take some solace in that you got the tattoo because of real emotion and feeling totally independent of and before you knew this new information. I guess I am fortunate my piece has a major family element, so it’s not solely connected on music.

My wife has been getting laser removal for wings on her back and after 2-3 sessions you basically can’t see them.

 

So fucking tired of all these fucking assholes in this scene, so extremely dissapointing, i’ll throw my saves the day records in the bin, goddamn what a shitty person, and so recent, fuck, like, a year ago, damn

 

It’s completely hinged on how you feel about it. I’d say you just can’t listen to them since you asked the question, otherwise you’d be fine listening going forward.

My biggest struggle is with forgiveness—-which does not seem to exist anymore, which is a huge issue. No one in history is perfect and we can all do better and can always do better. I truly wish I had the answer or the cure to fix the pain and hurt people inflict on each other. I hope The victims can find peace and growth in the future. I hope Chris gets the help he needs. Turning our backs on anyone is not how you shape a society that learns from mistakes. All you’ll do is cause the issue to remain hidden or spiral farther south and more people will be hurt.
