Riot Fest is popular enough that it draws generic "festival-goers" now. They don't really think about the "culture" surrounding the festival or its specific aesthetic, what its major appeal is, etc.

 

They still stay true to their aesthetic. They specialize in one area of music and very rarely go outside it. Booking a straight up pop act with be outside of what they do. So I don’t think they would do that. Keep acts meant for lolla at lolla and let riot be riot.

 

I enjoy Lizzo (because I have ears and a soul). But I think she'd be a terrible addition to Riot Fest.

While Riot doesn't have a set genre, they have always steered clear of booking headliners (which is where Lizzo would land) that are "typical" festival bookings. Or pure pop music. Which is where she's at. In that upper echelon of pop stardom right now that would preclude her from being reasonably affordable, I think. And it would make the name look really strange on the Riot line-up.

I honestly feel the same way about the Black Keys and Foo Fighters.

But to everyone who says she's not a good fit musically? I dunno. Would you have said the same thing like, 5-6 years ago when she was opening for Atmosphere and Lifter Puller at Red Rocks? It's not like she would have been a giant leap then...

The "invisible line" is a great way to put it. And, if I'm being totally honest? Lizzo is a better fit in almost every way than Limp Bizkit.

And new images for passes, the VIP grid, etc.

It's imminent.

 

There is a better chance that The Beatles get back together with all original members for a one time only set at Riot Fest than BTS playing.

 

Foo fighters could headline riot I just think they would want too much money. Plus Dave has a working/personal relationship/friendship with perry who does lolla. they would also play to more people at lolla then they would at riot

 

I put my lunch money on tomorrow. If I loose I will buy a beer to everybody who finds me at the festival and show me this post.

 

There's a difference between "wanting" an artist to play and talking about what makes a good "fit" or what might be "realistic."

 

Yeah, seeing all of these files get uploaded makes me feel like they are getting everything ready to go for tomorrow... So all they need to do is press a button.

Tomorrow makes sense. Maybe they let us know the time tonight.

Yeah and the discount was only $10 the starting price for next year is $150 with fees my ticket would have been $170

 

People will have until May 31st to request a refund. Makes sense to load this all up during the last half of May (and press it right up to the 15th). That will give people a little over two weeks to decide whether or not they would like to request a refund based on the full line-up.

We've blown through a lot of things in the last 24 hours in this thread. But this is the most disturbing to me.
