Debating whether or not I want to make a fuss about it. On one hand, I'm just happy to have the record. On the other, I spent 40 bucks on a record that was already beaten up before I even opened it.

I truly thought this was just a sign of my mental decline but I’m glad to hear others experience it as well haha

Listened to this enough to have an opinion. Love it, definitely vibe with it more than Black Mile. Only song that’s ‘eh’ for me is “Let It Storm”

What a way for us all to go out as we’re pummeled by debris

Let It Storm has been stuck in my head and it’s a really cool song. I’d get people being taken back by that Bad Books fuzzy guitar solo thing, but that track has so much goodness in it. It feels like a song about a hospital visit and range of emotions, conversations, perspectives and thoughts of that shared experience.

Aren’t the fuzztones one of the things that people loved about Cope?

Feels like a KISS of it wouldn’t be a huge deal breaker.

Got my standard edition white vinyl today all the way in Canada but it's actually clear :scream::scream::scream:

It's definitely coming around on me. It's weird that it's been the song that's been stuck in my head the most, but also the song I'd say is my least favourite.

I'm awake at 2am just singing "I don't wanna hold back my faith anymoooooooooooore" over and over and over.

can’t imagine getting surprised by fuzz tone on a softer track. did y’all hear leaky breaks?

Yea I really dig that fuzzy solo on Let it Storm. That song started out as one I didn’t care for but I’m starting to get into it a lot more

My only complaint with the album is kinda the same problem I had with the last one where there’s so many moments where Andy’s vocals and a lot of the production just has so much reverb on it. Bed Head made me think maybe they were moving from that and I liked the contrast of dry vocals to super reverb in Keel Timing but it’s still just kinda all over the album. It’s not a deal breaker but I’d definitely prefer less. Angel of Death chorus comes to mind as one where I think it’s be stronger without so much reverb

i get that not being your thing but they’ve done it on literally all of their albums. ILAV and METN are drenched in reverb. andy has mentioned multiple times he’s a huge my morning jacket guy. a band that does that to an insane degree haha

Haha yea and I love my morning jacket but I just like Andy’s vocals dryer. I’d argue that on METN they’re pretty dry for the most part. It really isn’t until Hope where they started going full Jim James.

like I said though not a deal breaker and I do think they balance it better on this album than the last

METN vocals are an outlier in so many ways though.

The dude intentionally tried to ruin his voice with cigarettes and waited until he was sick to record.

The difference between the vocals on ILAV and METN is definitely jarring to say the least, lmao

i can feel a hot one, everything to nothing and the river have tons of reverb

Really? I still don’t really hear it. I mean some, but definitely not tons. Listening to any of those songs against a song like the Maze is like night and day in terms of the use of reverb and I know that’s an extreme example but still.

I just hear a lot of doubles. But maybe I’m deaf?

idk. maybe i’m getting lost in the weeds. it’s not doubling, which there is, as much as the trails after the vocal delivery ends. definitely not to the level of the maze, but still more than most bands.

Reach out to Second City. You deserve a quality product for what you paid. I wouldn't settle until I had either a replacement or a refund.
