I could absolutely see If I Surrender as a tbs song. Not so much WYWTB era but it definitely shares some similarities with the direction Louder Now was going in. I see it a bit in Hate To See You Go as well.

I've been loving his youtube channel lately. He's a very open dude and tells a lot of cool stories from his career. Can't believe he was asked twice to join Dashboard Confessional but didnt take it. Also mentions he auditioned for Breaking Benjamin which would've been an odd pairing.

Sounds like he got back the rights to the Color Fred album, which is why he was able to put the old music videos on his youtube page. Also mentioned he's working on a vinyl repressing of it, and is gonna make a few color variants.
I'd just love if he repressed Terrible Things. That really was a strong album, and it's a shame he mentions how poorly it sold. This song is definitely one of my favorite things he's written:

I could see the odd verse or bridge or whatever being plucked from Fred's album for TBS songs (Like Hate to see you go's verse or the overlapping parts of Complaintor as has been mentioned) but overall Fred's album is a little bit "poppier" than TBS I'd say.

Yea, Fred's style is definitely more poppy and upbeat than TBS overall. I'd say his solo stuff definitely follows a more conventional style as well.

Yeah for sure. I kind of can't believe people are actually saying they could see Color Fred tracks on Louder Now.

I will be okay. everything Supporter

the only one i think could really fit on a tbs album is minnesota, which also happens to be the best on the album

I wouldn't say it's THAT unbelievable but yeah not with the songs as they are now. It would have been so interesting to see what Adam would have added to some of the more TBS-ish ones if Fred had brought them as rough songs during his era though.

I would absolutely buy The Color Fred (album) and Terrible Things S/T on vinyl if they were repressed.

we’re right and we should say it

color fred songs make more sense fitting on a TBS record than the straylight run song they cover did, and yes i know it originated with adam writing

I just have no interest in listening to solo Fred for whatever reason. The latest John Nolan solo record on the other hand, is my shit.

truly can't imagine how Hate To See You Go, If I Surrender, and Get Out would make sense on the same album as What's It Feel Like to Be A Ghost, Liar, Spin, Error: Operator, Miami, and I'll Let You Live lol

His solo material is kinda amazing. Height, Sad Strange Beautiful Dream and Abendigo are all really great

There's no song on Bend To Break with verses that sound anything like the verses on Up Against or Twenty-Twenty Surgery. The bass parts on those tracks alone are totally foreign to anything on that record.

divine intervention is also totally out of place on louder now but would fit right in on the color fred stuff

I think Divine Intervention fits the vibe of Louder Now pretty well. The acoustic tracks on Bend To Break have a way different vibe.

Bend To Break is a relatively straightforward pop-rock record (it's a good one too). The two albums TBS did with Fred are way more musically diverse and interesting than that, especially Louder Now.
