Yeah our kid is turning 2 soon, so he'll be eligible when that 2 to 11 auth hits.

I'll be interested to read the trial data and such, see what the dosage total is and whatnot.

If I could get my hands on some I'd feel fine about giving it to them myself at this point right now.

We put out a survey last week to parents of 16 and 17-year-old students in our school district because the local health department is interested in holding a vaccination clinic for students at our high school and only 120 out of 750 parents said they'd be interested in vaccinating their child.

I imagine that number would decrease the younger the age.

Also, our county's health department director said unless we get...100 percent of all 16+ vaccinated, we'll never reach herd immunity in our county's population (220,000ish) because they expect the 15 and younger to be a very low vaccination rate if/when it's approved.

I used to live in a town where people kept sharks in a pool. South Jersey is something.

My wife and I went 'swimming with the sharks' when we went to Punta Cana a long time ago and I nearly had a panic attack in the middle of the ocean. Also didn't help that they gave me a snorkel with a crack in it...

I'm absolutely loving this new movement among workers not accepting these major corporations shit wage anymore. These humongous corporations have been thriving on the whole "its an entry job, its supposed to be low wage" for far far far too long. Even if it was meant to be a job for high schoolers , which is weird if you think about it right? "I'm gonna create a store where its run entirely by 17 year olds"... haha I mean , what.

But even if it was.... 17 year olds, who go to school 40 hours a week, plus homework, and are planning on paying for their stupid expensive college soon,, should make $300 a week (for full time)? Fuck that.

That's gotta be something buried deep in your DNA where it feels natural to your body to be afraid of sharks when swimming in water.

I've been coming to the conclusion lately that our country is just too stupid and broken for the entirety of it to reach anything close to herd immunity. I do think a lot of the time outreach efforts work when people have valid reasons to be wary of getting the vaccine, but I don't see a way to overcome the bad faith Tucker Carlson bullshit where people just blatantly spread falsehoods and lies to scare people out of getting the vaccine. There are just too many dumb people who blindly listen to the garbage that people like Tucker Carlson and Trump before that say.

I'm starting to see some scenarios though where there is relative protection in certain well-vaccinated areas. Continuing outreach for hesitant people and populations having difficulty accessing the vaccine would be key to making these pockets bigger and everyone safer.

I would love to trust some of the data coming out of Israel where vaccinating ≈50% of older / high risk people really gets the pandemic under control but I do think this entire experience has annihilated any shred of optimism and faith I may have had before.

The funniest night of his presidency was when he got COVID. A strong contender for second is when he got banned from twitter and spent the next couple of hours desperately trying to tweet from every account he could find & trying to force staffers to let him use their accounts
