Anyone check out the mosquito coast yet?

 

Just started Outer Banks

 

I will probably start it this weekend. Looks pretty good.

 

Definitely looks interesting. Follow up with your thoughts if you start it!

 

I started the mosquito coast and saw it was produced by Gideon Yago. I guess he’s been writing for TV the last 8 or so years. I did not know that.

 

Jeez this season of handmaids tale is really not good

 

It’s dumb, but I had a good time with it.

 

Damn, Invincible was very good. Stoked for the next two seasons!

 

its pure peak-CW trash and I watched it in one sitting.

 

So the writing on the mosquito coast is bad and some of the dialogue is very laughable but I had fun with the first 2 episodes.

 

Pretty happy with the outcome of The Circle. Much more interesting than last year’s winner.

 

I don't like the show in general. Couldn't finish the first season.

 

I’m especially disappointed because I really thought the first three were excellent, though I totally understand the criticisms it receives from people.

I was watching someone on tiktok talk about how they think that while Wandavision and TFATWS are great, they don't work well as TV shows because they're trying to bring the MCU film formula into TV and it's not working. They listed Watchmen, Umbrella Academy, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones as examples of shows that worked better because they embraced the medium rather than trying to change it. So I got to thinking, there's also Invincible, The Boys, Legion, Doom Patrol, and Harley Quinn. With the exception of Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and these new Disney Plus shows, the majority of good comic book TV shows are on cable/streaming, and they tend to be more adult oriented. Is that the formula--is being adult oriented a requirement to being good--or is that just a coincidence? Only about half of the Marvel Netflix seasons are actually good, and the DC CW shows are also only good about half of the time, in a way that can't be as easily divided into seasons. But like, for example, when The Flash is at its best, it's still really, really good.

 

I also loved Joey, but for the type of show this is, it was a little fucked up that the straight, attractive white man won lol.

On the first episode of S2 of The Circle, and I gotta say, the contestants on this show fuckin LOVE hashtags

I still have no idea what the circle is but should probably make a thread for it, seems pretty popular.

Not saying this in a passive aggressive way, I think there’s a lot of missed conversation because people don’t know there’s conversation buried in this thread.

But until then... The finale was great

 

If people were interested in watching/discussing The Circle from other countries, I'd be into it.
