Listened to Cope for the first time ever last night while I’ve listened to the rest of their disco plenty over the years. Was an album I just never got around to I guess.

 

Okay, I'm hitting the stride right now where I see this album as the best album of all time. Halfway through my 8th listen and it finally fully clicked.

I'll probably end up going back on these words, but for now this is a paradigm shifting album and nobody can tell me different.

 

Anyone get a hint/influence of Thrice’ Circles sped up on Annie?

 

Getting some Smash Mouth and Crazy Town vibes halfway through.

 

The chorus of Obstacle is straight up ripped from Butterfly

 

the guitars in Annie is straight crazy town

 

Second listen has me pretty much enamored

Do people just say stuff sounds like Radiohead when they don’t know what else to say?

 

Definitely their best album. I can confidently say that.

 

I dont think its their best album, and thats ok.

 

It’s my third favorite MO record and I’ve had some time with this lovely thing.

 

It is not their best and it is not their worst. That's as specific as I can be with the album having been out for just over 12 hours.

 

Youre not ready to say it’s AOTY or an all timer? Come back after 13 hours with it.

 

anything with guitars sounds like manchester orchestra. anything with any electronics on top of guitars sounds like radiohead

 

I’ll call it their second best, but I wasn’t in love with anything before Black Mile

 

He sounds a lot like indie folk singers of the 00s/10s a la Iron & Wine, The Head & The Heart, The Tallest Man on Earth, etc.

 

Well see there are acoustic guitars on this one so actually it sounds like Sufjan Stevens

If any of you like this, but haven't heard Ethan Gruska's record "En Garde" you should check it out. Lot's of similarities.

 

it’s because the songwriting is good but the production is awful. it makes since to refer to the songs and the writing, but it also makes for listening to it to be painful

 

People don’t actually truly seriously say things like ‘greatest album of all time’, right?

That’s a bit too hard in the paint for me.
