I absolutely love Telepath. I’d be down for a whole album of Neil Young vibes.

Telepath is really good and my fav single so far but I am also nervous about the album now lol

mostly based on what everyone is saying and how much I like the 3 singles and how much I don’t think the rest will sound similar

Edit: I actually love all 3 equally I’ve been trying not to overplay but let the whole 3 play through and damn

  4. If you like the three singles you’ll love the album.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

spinning HOPE for the first time in probably years. this is actually a really nice album, I think I lump it together with COPE too much in my mind but they're a very separate vibe

(why in the hell they changed one of the only standout lyrics, the first line in "Choose Me", is just totally beyond me tho)

    I do not exist.

Definitely agree with the lump together. I’ve hardly listened to either but I’ve spent some time with HOPE in the last few weeks and enjoyed it.

defs miss the "fucking tricked by my training" delivery in "The Ocean" too. might be the only song I wholeheartedly prefer the COPE version of, although TIL that Casey Crescenzo played piano on the HOPE version! the more you know

on the whole I much prefer this, but I also can't really imagine it existing without COPE either, which is kinda funny because I was just saying how different they are. if they had just dropped HOPE on its own, I would still think it's the weakest MO album just on a songwriting level, but the way it exists in complete opposite of its counterpart actually does a lot for its listenability

    Motel. Money. Murder. Madness.

Casey was also apart of the Black Mile sessions early on after Freeman decided to go home.

  9. Cause I genuinely like the top 3 better and cope has a hair more sentimental value than black mile. It’s not like any of these are that far off in level of appreciation.

that’s kind of a bummer ): that’s the weakest of the 3 I think, I only listened once though

I feel like nothing can top the raw sound of I’m Like a Virgin. It’s almost a different band and will probably always be my favorite because that’s when I discovered them.

METN and Simple Math are tied for 2nd. ABMTTS is 3rd. Cope/Hope definitely last. But really everything they do is good. I don’t think they have a band song.

I also think the first Bad Books record probably has their best songs outside the first 3 MO albums. The Eventually Home from RACG is also up there. These fuckers just make so many good tunes.

    It's all hell.

I've gotten really strong Simon & Garfunkel vibes from Telepath (maybe the melodies?)

  17. Big fan of how that key change on Telepath comes out of absolutely nowhere. If you like this you’re gonna love the album.
