I like that the rumored tracklist had Bon Iver and Phoebe Bridgers on it. Thank God those didn't happen.

 

Does anyone actually like the weird, corny punchline style he uses these days? The "flying colours like I tossed the crayons" etc. type thing. I don't listen to Em regularly but I'm always tempted to give everything just ONE listen to see what bizarre forced lines he comes up just to shake my head and laugh at them.

 

It's pretty terrible. They're so forced and he always like pauses after them. After the infamous "window pain" they're almost always terrible

I only listened to Gnat, also has the standard "really fast rapping section that somehow manages to be boring as shit"

 

I miss the good old days when bands like grizzly bear would slip and fall on Some craig Mack pogs

 

I love how much Eminem calls back to his past on like every song. It’s actually really awesome. I’m enjoying going through genius as I listen to this album.

 

Wow, Discombobulated really does sound like something he would've put out a decade ago.

I'm digging that one and Book of Rhymes. The rest of this album is pretty boring.

 

best/only decent-to-good songs:

black magic, book of rhymes, favorite bitch, guns blazing, these demons, zeus, discombobulated

 

soooo slightly more hits than misses, kinda like encore. only there's no outright *great* songs like say, mockingbird or like toy soldiers or mosh. if we're treating this like it's own standalone album, it's damning how it wouldn't even be in the bottom three

 

I'm confused. Is this a thread about Kamikaze still?

 

The first MTBMB was definitely better but I definitely got some good ones off this new one. I actually like Alfred's Theme because it makes me super nostalgic for one specific Em era lol, and Discombobulated sounds straight off of Relapse which is still a mad underrated album

Loving how he doesnt seem to be screaming as much on this, just flowing.

 

Maybe it’d be better to change the thread title to “Most Recent Eminem Album That We’re Dismissing (MTBMB Side B, 2020)” and just update the parentheses every 9-14 months.

 

I’m just echoing once again what @OhTheWater said when Kamikaze dropped but it’s wild that every time a mediocre or shitty Eminem album drops there will be at least 2+ pages of discussion meanwhile so many albums on here barely get any attention. Perhaps we should spend more time discussing artists who are actually putting out quality work worth the attention.

 

I feel you, but that's a pretty subjective statement. There are a lot of artists I love who don't even have their own threads, but I don't see what that has to do with people listening to Eminem. Let people listen to what they wanna listen to!

 

Yea, I don't get the statement either. It's not "wild" that an artist with billions of streams gets a few pages of comments here (most of the comments here are about how they don't like Eminem anyway). There are sooooo many artists I'd love to see more active threads on, but no one posts in them - I understand why though.

 

I think we as users do a fairly good job of recommending smaller/newer artists to those interested around here, and I think that can continue to be the case while a group of folks shitpost about the new Eminem album lol. It's not like folks are really praising him in that thread, and any jokey post I make in there certainly doesn't detract from my involvement across the website or listening to new music. Just my two cents.

 

Nobodys making you post in this thread. If you dont want to contribute to the conversation nobody is making you but its incredibly silly to think that no discussion remotely should take place about eminem solely because there are lesser known artists out there.

Idk for as big as Eminem is to not even get a new album thread and have less than 500 posts in over two years, site definitely isn't crazy over him or anything

I'm just here out of morbid curiosity at this point, I didn't even give any of the last three albums a full listen and barely remember anything on MMLP2
