Under the radar in all of this, but it looks like Aguero is signing a two year contract with Barcelona. That's a perfect amount of time for his age/quality/injury trifecta AND creates more reasons for Messi to stay.

Alexi Lalas may be the most consistent person in soccer and maybe sport who continuously has the worst takes. Guy just plain sucks.

Weirdly, the new CL format is almost exactly what they want, in that it offers even more chances for the bug teams to qualify and even more “big” matches.

I think a LARGE part of this is down to two big factors. I think they are fed up with UEFA’s meddling, and they think the competition is being poorly sold. Why is it not a streaming service by now, why is it on BT fucking Sports? They see Netflix and the like and probably think they could make a killing. Football is largely marketing now, and putting it on a service almost no one has is pure insanity.
