My wife is a huge Taylor Swift fan and I was talking to her recently about how I really hope what Taylor is doing inspires more artists to do the same thing going forward when their labels fuck them over. The labels literally can't do a thing to stop it so long as the artist owns the rights to the songs. Would love that to become a new trend. Feel like a lot of former Victory Records bands especially would benefit from doing it.

Lol if somebody wanted to chase clout by calling somebody with a platform out they could aim a lot higher than Matt fucking Skiba.

fuck Matt Skiba and Travis too while we’re at it. Blink is such a part of my blood I will never not be able to listen to them but they’re pretty much all problematic as fuck

I would suggest this website stop promoting Alkaline Trio and Blink until Matt owns up to his actions (and Travis too for the whole platforming xxxtentacion) but we all know that would never in a million years happen on this website.

  8. No one in that band will ever apologize for the (valid) complaints that are largely specific to this very small corner of the internet

Reel Big Fish did the same with their Greatest Hits to stick it to Mojo - “A Best of Us for the Rest of Us”

Tldr: I took two months off and really worked on myself and I'm super proud of me and my album. Also, I'm not really going to address the whole slur thing.

the replies are simply chock full of people who i would wager also use the n word regularly given how this whole controversy appears to have made them want to listen to Wallen even more

He didn't address a single damn thing and talked about how proud he is of himself and his album. What a shitheel. Fuck him and his fans

If you re-frame the Phoebe Bridgers thing as a fan purchase from which she's donating all the proceeds, then I'm not sure what the problem would be

Wallen was essentially *rewarded* for saying the N-word. He only became more of a commercial juggernaut after doing it than he was before! What incentive does he have to apologize? None.

I hate him and his music but it feels like a battle that has already been lost. We tried to take him down for saying the most offensive word in the English language and we clearly failed.

I am positive he is not the first person in America to be rewarded for using that word

    The spiciest meme

what the actual fuck is this, "Wow it's crazy my album spent 10 consecutive weeks at #1 you all love my music so much" motherfucker you know damn well the reason it spent that long at #1. This is an even further backstep from his initial "apology" saying that people shouldn't be trying to make excuses for him or support what he did, he's literally thanking them all here and not even uttering a word about those affected by what he said. All about himself and how happy he is with the success of the album, what complete and utter horseshit

I think Crimson means people who get actively rewarded for doing something like that. As opposed to people like Madonna / Maher / Tarantino, who are not rewarded for it so much as given a kind of cultural pass. So it is not just passively acceptable, but financially/socially *better* for his sake to embrace it and do more stuff like it. Positive reinforcement
