yeah, those ones are faster too, you're right. but i said the rest of the album was pretty much slow jams so i'm in the clear! haha. i guess "Starlight" could have made a pretty good first single too.

 

Why does she sing "the whole place was just euthanized" in "Starlight"? haha

 

It will never make sense to me that she gave this song away.

I think it’s one of the songs I’d cut to get Red to 13. But.... *hot take alert* I’d keep Stay Stay Stay over it. Moving forward TS always has a song that is clearly “for myself.” Most of them work for the album except maybe “London Boy”

 

It’s a pretty good song except for the 3oh!3 melody

 

Actually the “for myself” songs started with Speak Now. In hindsight it lays the groundwork for the songwriting in the last two albums. Most of the time it’s just stories that have a few tidbits relating to her personal life.

 

"Stay Stay Stay" rules and I'd also take it over "Starlight" (although I like that song a lot too)

 

I think the idealism of both songs balances out the heart-shattering nature of the saddest songs on the record, personally. It needs both (for meeeeee).

 

"Starlight" is magical mate.
