I’m assuming The Expanse gets better acting/dialogue-wise than the first fifteen minutes or so? I liked it, but my gf hated it because of the cheesiness and I want her to watch it with me lol. She asked to stop mid-dinner to watch something else

 

I was hoping so too, since I’m on my third attempt to watch this thing and on S1 E8 but it doesn’t appear to be the case.

 

I got to episode 5 of season 2 and while there's some stuff I like I just don't find myself caring much about any of the characters and yeah, the acting and dialogue is pretty weak.

 

The expanse is incredible I won't hear otherwise

 

I can’t remember the acting at the beginning but I think the acting is fine for the most part but I can see how the Belter accent could be annoying and that doesn’t go away

 

I’m currently reading the books and will check the show out afterwards. The books are awesome!

 

Books are excellent, show is excellent

 

Definitely some cheese throughout, but it gets so good. Also yeah the belter accents get real annoying

Well 10 minutes into Cherry and this is already bad.

 

it looked awful. shame. book is good.

 

Yeah it’s all over the place. The book rules. I wish the safdies would have directed it.

 

In conclusion don’t watch cherry.

 

man. safdies would have been a dream. also, it needed a much different actor than tom holland. almost like jesse plemons a decade ago.

Is Holland like bad bad or just bad in the sense that it's impossible to view any character he plays past the fact that he looks like he is 12

 

He’s okay. The script is a mess and the direction is horrible. It’s also hard to picture him as anything other than a young dorky kid.

 

Finally *finally* pulled the trigger on HBO Max. I’ve got til the end of the weekend to watch Judas, but priority #1 was I May Destroy You. Watched most of it yesterday, have a few left today. This show is fucking incredible

 

I thought TH was the only good thing about Cherry. Agreed direction was all over, disappointing coming from Russo's.

 

Cherry sounds like 2 and half hours of torture porn and I can't think of anything I'd rather experience less lol

 

It's not THAT bad. It is quite long, some weird stylized parts, overly dramatic music. But it's not torture porn.

 

Yeah the movie is not at all. The book is more graphic and detailed and way better.

 

Man I wish I could relive seeing that again for the first time. It masterfully handles theme, and really has the power to deepen perspective, to make people address and consider nuance in this world that only gets more complex everyday. It's also hilarious and fun and easy to watch, which is WILD considering the content.
