yeah, I guess I am p much the opposite here. I like the lighter stuff quite a bit still, but AOM and LBB are the clear highlights for me of their career and also definitely their most aggressive releases. also, wouldn’t say noise rock is like my forte but I enjoy when bands I already love foray into that territory usually.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

LBB is such a fascinating "late" career album. Most bands chill out as they exist longer and they really just dug into being louder and faster. That album goes harder than mot hardcore albums ive heard lol.

I stan all their post AoM work. Honestly can’t fathom anyone saying they didn’t care for LBB. There’s some great stuff on there.

The ending of “The Spirit Of” is such a classic Cloud Nothings ending and I never get tired of it.

‘here and nowehere else’ is THE album for me by them

    Maybe so, maybe not.

The LBB "eh" crowd is breaking my brain. Manages to put everything great about the band into a single package: kick-your-teeth-in style opener (On An Edge), quick and catchy bangers (Leave Him Now, In Shame), and even an extended jam that gets way out there before building back into an epic crescendo (Dissolution). What's not to love?

Yep! I bought it thinking that it would look terrible but I was wrong

I had not listened to the singles prior to the release so obviously "Nothing Without You" is all the way stuck in my head.

Got the spectral light white vinyl from Bandcamp today. Shoulda got that Rough Trade one above, that's sexy.

Listening to (and loving) this and how the fuck did I miss them releasing two albums last year?

Dropping $50 in their merch store to get 3 CDs but I really don't want to have to do a monthly subscription to get that digital-only one. Bummer.

it’s worth it. Life is Only One Event is possibly my favorite of the 3. plus they’ve released an EP each month since august and the latest EP alone is worth the price of admission for one month.

“That Prince” off the March EP is soooo good

Yeah, the monthly EP's are just as good as the full lengths.

I keep saying it, but I think they need to start experimenting a bit more. As great as the last few albums have been, I feel like you could switch songs between the albums and not even notice. The monthly EP's would be a perfect place to try some weird shit.

I'd love more stuff in the vein of "Wasted Days" and particularly "Dissolution." The way the latter kind of breaks apart and then slowly comes back together for that explosion is beyond satisfying. I feel like they could get into that Young Jesus zone of philosophical jamming.

Agreed. I'd like to see them incorporate some of their free jazz stuff into it as well, throw some sax on that shit

sadly, seems like they have consciously broken away from that territory with the last few releases. Dylan seems worn out by it, judging from interviews over the past year or so. I hope we eventually get more stuff in that vein, and I would love for them to expand on the more aggressive and angular side shown in LBB, but I’m def not holding my breath.

I think it’s cool how the fan base (this site at least) is pretty evenly split on what we want from them. I’m more of a fan of their catchy poppy side but I also like their noisy stuff. I just realized I never listened to any of the EPs despite subscribing, I should change that

    just one of those ghosts

I've never given these guys a deep listen despite being aware or them for some time, but this album is really amazing. I had the urge go back the top of their discography and get caught up—yesterday I made it through "Attack On Memory," which, wow—absolutely insane. Excited to listen more!

One thing this band absolutely crushes: closing songs.
